Vehicle Detail

1968 Firebird with original numbers matching 350 2bbl 2 speed power glide. I currently have a high intake manifold and 4bbl Demon carb intalled. The original manifold and carb are in my possession and in fine working condition. This is a nice reliable driver that I would feel comfortable driving anywhere in the USA. She's a typical 40+ year old car with some surface scratches, dings and scuffs in the paint here and there. The interior overall is pretty good other than some damage to the top of the back seat and driver seat(see photo) not to serious. Headliner and vinyl top are new. The clock on the center console, radio and horn do not work, all else works great. Left rear quarter is just starting to show some rust bubbles just behind the wheel well down low at the lower lip.Tires are brand new BF Goodrich. Fronts are 225/60R15, rears are 245/60R15 giving it a really nice stance. Pontiac Rally II rims with beautiful trim rings. Car is obviously far from perfect but starts everyday, runs straight as an arrow and is priced to sell. I also have original four wheels with 14 inch rims and hubcaps. I've been asked if there are any leaks under the car...yes, and for a car this age that shouldn't surprise anyone. I've had mechanics tell me a gasket replacements would take care of the issue. The leaks have never gotten any worse since the day I'd purchased(very small tranny fluid leak) that's part of owning an old car. The floor and trunk pans appear original and in good shape. There is some bondo found in the front valance seems and they are starting to seperate, a common area of water collection. You can see this if you look at the photos from the front quarter shots. The worst dent is on the back left below back bumper. Also, this is stage one paint that could be buffed to a beautiful shine. I personally like how it looks and have never taken the time or spent the money to have it buffed out. Vehicle is listed locally so I reserve the right to end auction early if vehicle sells. On May-28-12 at 19:30:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been asked if there is any frame or body rust. There is surface rust on the underside of this car but nothing is structurally compromised. I guess one should expect rust on a 44 year vehicle for less that 10K that has not been restored. Also, this vehicle does smoke on the initial start in the morning. Of coarse this would indicate in time you may want to have a valve job performed. It does not in any way affect the Firebirds performance and would also be common with an original engine this age without a prior rebuild. Folks, this vehicle is a nice driver, not a restored 30K plus car. If you're looking for that type of car than don't waste your time bidding. I will try to get the Trim Tag and VIN on tomorrow. thanks for all the interest, Steve On May-29-12 at 21:32:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added additional photo of Trim Tag but I'm out of space for additional photos beyond the 24 already included.VIN is 223378U101824 google firebird first generation to decode trim taguse this website to decode Trim Tag, noting that the consecutive build number on the Trim Tag is not supposed to match that of the VIN Vehicle is of original color (solar red with ivory vinyl top and red interior)
