Vehicle Detail

I happened upon a car I have wanted for some time(Lotus) and that is why I am selling this one. Car is an unfinished project that needs only the interior and top fitted. I believe the only thing you will need is a new steering wheel and carpets. I intended on just using generic auto parts store carpet. I bought this car with the body work and paint done. The owner had found his true love, a brass radiator T. The car has had rockers and dog legs replaced and is painted with single stage urethane in Chrysler Graffic Red. Paint is what I would call good driver quality paint job. Door gaps on driver side are not perfect and you can see where there had been a luggage rack fitted. Mechanicaly nothing had been done when I acquired it. I fitted new chrome wire wheels and all new hubs. This is usually needed on old wire wheel cars and will set you back around $2500 now. I also completely rebuilt the front suspention and fitted new springs in the rear. Shocks were good. I completely rebuilt the hydraulic system with all new brake cylinders and rebuilt master and clutch slave. System was flushed completely and converted to Dot 5 fluid. I have used this since the 70's and am sure you will never have any brake corrosion problems from now on. I also fitted a new clutch,KandN air cleaners and LCB header to the engine. Trans seems fine. In summary I believe the car is in A1 mechanical condition from the rubber on the road to the engine. Engine is a 1600 "crate motor" so to speak. According to the engine number it is the engine you would have gotten from your dealer back in the day to replace the original 1500. It is tired and will need a overhaul or replacement down the road. I intended on replacing the engine with a 5 main MGB engine and Datsun 5 speed trans using a Rivergate Restoration kit. That engine is available if you want it and the 1600 is currently fitted with the MGB head which has hardened valve seats. I believe I have remembered everything but would recommend that buyers look the car over. I will respond with info on the ask a question format. On May-26-12 at 18:55:50 PDT, seller added the following information:Like to add that I have a set of Moss black carpets that will go with the car. ALSO: I have sold auto's on E-Bay before and since I have a poor internet connection and not the best photo's I have always informed potential bidders that if they win the auction and the car is not as they expected they won't be held to the deal. There is nothing that quite compares to seeing a vehicle up close and I think that is the best way to do business. Thanks, Kurt.
