Vehicle Detail

This is a very rare prototype Panoz AIV Roadster that was built in 1996 to prove out the 1997 model year car. In 1996 4 of these prototypes were hand built by the engineers at Panoz, and I know that one of them has already been shipped out of the country. AIV stands for Aluminum Intensive Vehicle, and Panoz was the first to produce an aluminum intensive car in the United States. The car has a mostly aluminum chassis, aluminum body, 305 horsepower aluminum block Ford Cobra 32 valve engine, and 5 speed tremec T-45 transmission. The suspension is all Panoz designed with 4 wheel independent short long A arms and coil overs. The brakes are straight from the Cobra with 13" vented discs up front. Panoz AIV Roadster specs: Transmission: 5-Speed Manual Engine 4600cc (Ford)DOHC V-8 Power (bhp) 305 @ 5800 rpm Torque 300 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm Redline: 6800 rpm Miles Per Gallon: 17/23 mpg Curb Weight: 2570 lbs Performance (0-60mph) 4.3sec Performance (0-100mph) 11.7 sec Top Speed (mph) 140 Skidpad: .97g Slalom Speed: 67.0 mph Braking, 0-60 mph: 119 ft Place Of Manufacture: Braselton, Georgia (USA) What is so special about this particular Roadster? This car is the ONLY Panoz that was ever painted this beautiful wine color known as Ford Torreador Red. The pictures really do not do this color justice! This car has a plaque on the intake manifold stating the car was built for Don and Nancy Panoz, the parents of Danny Panoz. This car was exclusively used in the Panoz "Drive and You Shall Fly" video that was sent to potential customers in 1996 and 1997. I will include a copy of this video with the car, along with any other press articles I have. Besides being the feature in the video this car was also used at the AIV debut event held at Chateau Elan Winery in September of 1996. In this event the car was test driven by people like Adrian Reynard, Jack Roush, and Pete Brock to name a few. After the debut this car was sent to Detroit to be the EPA certification car. Upon it's return from the testing the car was pretty much parked in the back of a shop and not driven much afterwards. The car currently has just over 4800 miles on the odometer. This is the true mileage! If this had been a big car company such as Ford or Chevy the car would have been crushed! Prototypes like this just don't survive! However, this one has, and represents a rare opportunity for a collector to own a piece of history. As far as Panoz is concerned this car is a race car, and meets no emissions or safety standards as such. There is no such thing as a street legal 1996 Panoz, because none were produced for the public that year. Since I bought the car, I have it titled/tagged in the State of Montana. This is a wonderful chance to own an extremely exclusive and rare car that can only appreciate with time - what other American built high performance sportscar hand built in single digit numbers can you think of?? I am going to leave this auction open to international bidders, however it is entirely up to the bidder to take care of all shipping and associated logistics. If a foreign buyer wins the car I would expect him to hire an agent to pick up the car from me after payment has been taken care of. All foriegn buyers must contact me with details on how they plan to have this handled before bidding. ** THIS CAR IS STREET LEGAL.
