Vehicle Detail

This car is the most desirable of all the four cylinder cars, and as you can see, it is in excellent condition. It has the original 2.0 liter engine with fully functioning fuel injection. While the 6-cylinder version is considered the ultimate (with a matching price), Porsche didn’t think so and replaced it with the engine in this car. The horsepower of the two differ by only 15hp (110 v 95) and the torque by only 7 ft-lb (55 v 48). Plus this car makes its power right off idle and has the much improved side shifter. If you actually want to own, drive, and maintain a 914, then this is the one to have. Additionally, I have only used oil with ZDDP. An older car that has used modern oil formulations that lack this absolutely vital ingredient will be severely worn. I will include an oil-change worth of correct oil in the sale. This car runs very strong and is problem-free. It also has the optional appearance group package that includes covered (not painted) roll bar, chrome bumpers, fog lights, the much sought after Fuchs forged aluminum wheels, and a center console with gauges. The paint is in outstanding condition as is the interior. 37372 miles on the odometer. I have no way to verify the accuracy of this figure but from the condition, there is no reason to believe that it's not correct. It also has stainless steel heat exchangers, Bursch exhaust, new rotors and calipers, magnetic trigger instead of points, new alternator, throttle-position switch, stainless exterior door handles to replace easily broken originals, and heater flapper valves. This car also has the legendary handling for which the 914 is famous. If you have not driven one before, then you are in for a surprise. I have never been in a street legal car that even comes close to going around a tight corner as well as this car and I am including a 911S and C6 Vettes, both of which I have driven. This is a sports car in its purest sense. If anyone tells you that a 34-year-old car is flawless, then be very suspicious. Here are the known flaws in this car: radio and horn do not work, radio is the right vintage but wrong for the car, rear trunk lid has a dent along the aft edge though the paint is still good (I believe from a baseball hit, see picture), there are some paint chips, the windshield wipers work but the washer does not. This is a rust-free, exceptional example of a 914. The “hell-hole” under the battery has been completely redone (see pic). With the targa top stored in the trunk on a nice day (the only time I ever drove it), you will be smiling the entire trip. You will get approving comments and looks even from people who are not “car folks.” If you have ever considered a 914, then this is the one to get. I am listing this car for sale locally, and reserve the right to end the auction at any time prior to meeting the reserve, after which the car will go the highest bidder. The car is available for pickup or local delivery for shipping. Deposit to PayPal due in 24 hours of $1000 and the remainder due within 7 days of auction close.
