Vehicle Detail
With much regret I am selling my 1972 240Z to a good home. The car has been adult driven and babied all its life. Originally bought and owned by a doctor in Illinois, the car was driven daily before parked in a warehouse for 15 years due to his health reasons. I bought the car from the original owners neighbor who purchased it only a few months before he sold it to me. The car was refreshed and made driveable from sitting 15 years. After I bought the car I began to cull the car over and make more refreshments to include: Motor was taken apart and new rings added, head milled and honed, new timing chain and brackets, water pump, fuel pump, high volume oil pump, oil spray bar, valves adjusted, new 6-2 headers with new 2.5 exhaust, silencer, and muffler, intake, linkage and round top carbs from Z therapy. All the smog crap eliminated also. Electronic Ignition added and new plug wires. Also a higher output alternator along with a new clutch slave. The rest of the engine bay remained intact as far as parts. I did all the work except the head milling which I took to a machine shop locally who specializes in that. Underneath I added new Tokico springs and struts all around along with new rubber bushings, front ball joints, and control arms. Brakes are practically new with discs on front and drums on rear. Suspension is tight along with the steering. Changed fluid in the differential recently. There is a whine in the rear common to these cars and I have just lived with it. The transmission shifts tight since I added new shifter bushings. Most parts were bought from Motorsports or Z Therapy and a few off Ebay. This is a number matching car with the E88 head on the 2.4L straight 6. The transmission is a 4 speed and original. Outside the car is in good condition considering it is a 40 year old car with original paint. There are a few door dings from original owner and some slight rust bubbles on each side at the rear dog legs. Floor pans are all solid with zero rust. Not going to say it is rust free because it is not and unless a car like this has been through a complete restoration I highly doubt any car 40 years old really is. The rust is minimal though. I keep the car in the garage and have never driven in the rain and rarely was it washed but instead just wipe with a cloth to clean the dust off. I installed a new rear bumper recently with all new rubber trim. The front bumper is great and I also have the over ride bar which is in great shape Interior is all original except for the new foam driver seat installed from Motorsports. The dash has no cracks and all gauges work including the clock. Original AM/FM radio works though antenna is not original and only manual. Also installed Fat Mat soundproofing on the floor of the car from firewall to hatch. New correct size tires with dealer installed optional rims from that year. I have driven about 1000 miles on the car in the almost 2 years I have owned her and get remarks every time I take her out. I would not hesitate to drive anywhere as the car runs fine. She could use a slight adjusting on the carbs for optiomal output but otherwise good. I am selling the car because my daughter is turning 16 needs a car and I will not just store the car to deteriorate. The car needs to be driven and is a pleasure to do so. If in the area and would like to view the car then it can be arranged. If shipping then buyer arranges all shipping and pays for all shipping costs. No implied warranty. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if needed. Any questions please ask before bidding. Edit: I guess I should have washed the car before taking pictures. I tried to take pictures that showed any and all flaws with the car. The picture of the underside of the hood reflects where original owner had an insulation blanket installed. If you need more pictures just let me know. I have no access to a lift so no pictures of the under carriage. It is clean and reflects a car that is not 40 years old but not a trailer queen neither.
