Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one of 29 cars that is from a private collection. This vehicle has been stored in a dry building with a concrete floor for 30 years. This car has PHS docs to verify its authenticity. The parts that I have been able verify as #s matching and original to the car are as follows the motor (XE code California A.I.R car) transmission appears to be original and looks like it has never been out of the car, rearend, spiril shocks, exhaust w/resonators (needs to be replaced), original sheet metal, floors including trunk floor, original undercoating, voltage regulator, master cylinder with original factory marking, T3 headlamps, seatbelts w/retractors, spare tire label, hub caps, paint w/original painted pinstripe, interior, original California black license plate. This is not to say that other parts are not original, they just have not been confirmed yet. If you have any specific question about a part, just email me and I will do my best to answer it. The odometer reads 15,979 and I do not know if it is 15,979 or 115,979. The left fender is dented but with the thickness of the sheet metal, it probably can fixed without replacing the fender. The original paint has become very thin, allowing surface rust to occur. Car was driven into storage but has not run for 30 years until this weekend when it took only 4 hrs to get it to run and idle. The car was started with an external gas tank and battery pack. The convertible top after sitting for 30 years still goes up and down under its own power. (the back window is torn) Also the headlamps and the interior lamps still shine bright. Vehicle is complete and would be considered a survivor which is often very desirable by many. Survivors are becoming much harder to find. Also what will go with the vehicle when sold is the P.H.S, California registration from 1981, certificate of compliance from California 1980 and its original license plate. As with any vehicle that has been sitting for 30 years, a complete check/replacement of gas lines, brakes etc. will be needed if you do not want to do a full resto. As far as I can see the floors, trunk and frame are solid. I would recommend a visual inspection so you can make your own determination as to what you think the condition should be for a car that has sat for 30 years.P.H.S reads pushbutton a/m radio, seat belts custom front and rear, console, power steering, tilt wheel, soft ray windshield, automatic, 3.23 rear gears, Marina Turquoise, Turquoise interior, white top.
