1971 Mercedes-Benz 600 The Mercedes-Benz 600 the pinnacle of beauty, luxury, and performance. The 600 was lacking in nothing that a wealthy owner could want. The 600 Mercedes Benz was the vehicle of choice for many celebrities and heads of state. The Pope, Elvis Pressley, John Lennon, Elizabeth Taylor, Coco Chanel, Aristotle Onassis, George Harrison are just a handful of the well known owners Powered by a V-8 HP engine, the first Mercedes put in a passenger car, with automatic transmission. A total of 2,190 Mercedes 600 swb were produced from 1963-1981. The Mercedes Benz 600 SWB being presented here for auction is 1971, an excellent original car with only 50,771 miles. I believe the mileage to be accurate from the condition of the carpets and seats as well as the documented mileage that is noted on the car from 2-4-1975, when the speedo was changed( see picture). There is no rot on the car, it was always garaged last on the road in 1984. The previous owner removed the gas tank from the car and coated it, with the intent of getting the car back on the road, the project was never finished. The upholstery and carpet are in very good condition, see pictures. The paint is in fair condition could use a respray. There is some surface rust in spots, see pictures. Small dent on rear bumper. Rear right chrome fender has a small dent. Small dent on front left bumper, any chrome shop can take care of it. The front grille is in beautiful condition. Missing the chrome basel from the antenna, see picture. Still have factory thermost and glasses in the bar, see picture. We put some starter fluid into the intake , the car cranks right up. We did not keep it running because one of the oil lines was disconnected when the car had ben worked on by previous owner, to be restarted. The car did crank right up and sounded really healthy. There are a couple of small door dings, they do not show in the pictures. This Mercedes Benz 600 was the car of choice of the world's most powerful, wealthy, influential and elite.
