Vehicle Detail
This Triumph was purchase 4 or 5 years ago in Buffalo NY where it had been in a garage for 10+ years. Before that it appears to have been in PA. The title given with the sale at the time was a clean PA title that was issued in 1982. The current owner rebuilt the motor put in a new clutch and slave, new brakes, fuel pump along with a bunch of other misc. things. He put it on the road and soon after was notified by NYS that the title was a rebuild/salvage. At some point some insurance company must have totaled the car and it was repaired but never retitled. In any case, the car shows evidence of being hit on the driver side door which was replaced and there is a bondo crack just behind the door. Other than this I see no place that the car was hit. The car was inspected in by NYS and a new rebuild/salvage title has been issued so the car can now be registered or titled in any state. The underside of the car is virtually rust free and we believe the mileage to be the original. Car runs and drive very well (or as well as a TR7 ever did) This still has the original SU carbs which are notoriouly hard to keep in tune. I would replace these with a set of webers with a new intake. I see these on eBay from time to time for about 300-400. A kit is also available from Victoria British. Tires, brakes, clutch, transmission are all in excellent condition. Tires were new in 2008 and tread is 100% but they are starting to show a bit of weather checking. The hideaway headlights work when they feel like it. You can assume that the motors will need to be reconditioned or at least exercised. All lights, horn and what nots work so the car can be inspected in any state. This will be a no reserve auction so the BIN will go away as soon as the first bid is made. Please ask questions before bidding. We check our messages often so it will only be a short wait. This is a great little summer car for a father/son summer knock around. On Apr-07-12 at 18:10:16 PDT, seller added the following information: At the request of a couple of interested bidders I am taking some additional pics of the underside of the car and the trunk and shock towers. If you would like to be included in the email of these pics, please just message me with your email address. I am out of space on this listing so will send them by regular email. A couple of notes from questions from interested parties. ****The peeling on the bumpers is from someone previously spraying them with clear coat. Not sure why they did that but it can be removed with reasonable ease. ********Yes, the car can be driven home. God loves the adventurer. I have driven it a couple hundred miles over the last couple of days, steering linkage is very stiff (no power steering, welcome to British Motor Sports) and it occasionaly bogs and backfires a tad ( Welcome to Stromies), Shifts smooth, stops great, has heat, stereo and all the lights work. ******yes, I will deliver the car for a price. Figure 2 bucks a mile from 12983 for an estimate. *****yes, I believe the car is currently inspectable in NYS. It is over 25 years old so it is for a T sticker. (safety only) Thank you for your interest and will try to remember to click "add to listing" for future questions. Please also if you don't see it here, ask! I will be happy to answer.
