Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my beloved FJ40. I have owned this vehicle for about 9 years now, and didn't think I would ever sell it. However we have moved to a new house and the garage has a very low door and it will not fit in unless I have the top off and flatten all the tires. I have never left this vehicle outside and I refuse to start now, so unfortunately it must go to a new home. I bought the cruiser when I lived in Atlanta from a guy who had just moved there from Alabama and also didn't have a garge and didn't want to leave it outside. He was the second owner and he knew the original owner. Therefore I believe the mileage to be correct at 55K. The truck spent its entire life in the south until 2005 when I brought it to West Virginia. Exterior The body is in good overall shape. I believe the paint to be original and is getting thin in a few areas. The only area that I know has been painted is the area where the top sits on the tub, and the floor and wheel wells of the interior cargo area. The top had never been off until I bought it, and there was some rust from water trapped in between the pieces of the top. I took the top off the first weekend after I bought it, and only put it back on one time when I drove it to West Virginia when I moved. Although it looks great with the top on, to me driving with the top and doors off is what I will miss the most. I also have a tailgate that can be installed when the top and doors are removed. The doors are all very solid with no rust. The key locks on the front doors work with the ignition key. There are a few dents in the body you can see in the pictures. The diamond plate around the bottom of the body was on there when I bought it, usually people will put this on to hide rust but this is not the case with this truck as you can see from the pictures inside the wheel wells. There is also no rust on the door sill below the rear doors like you often see. The front bumper is a brand new heavy duty version from JT Outfitters. There is also a reciever hitch on the back with a plug for trailer lights. The tires are radial Super Swampers size 33x10.50 on original wheels (I am missing one front hubcap though). It also has a Wilderness Accessories basket roof rack with lights on the front (they are not currently hooked up). Interior The interior is one of the best parts of this cruiser. It is all original and has not been hacked up very much. The floorboards are in great shape. The dash is very clean, with no extra holes. Even the radio opening has not been cut wider. All the gauges work, and the dash lights work great. The front seats are in great shape with only one small tear on the side of the drivers seat. There is a CCOT locking center armrest console with a CD player inside and cupholders on the front. I have added an extension kit to the drivers seat that allows it to move back an additional 1 1/2 inches for taller drivers, which makes for a much more comfortable seating position. I have also installed an overhead console with a CB and a dome light with map lights which also come in very handy. The original rear jump seats are in great shape with the original seat belts. There is a small speaker box behind the front seats with marine speakers installed in case you get caught in the rain. I also have a bikini top for keeping you in the shade when the top is off. The headliner is not original; the original headliner was damaged while in storage so my wife and I tried to recover it. Mechanical Original 2F engine was desmogged before I bought it. I installed a Man-A-Fre 6 into 1 header and entire new exhaust system a few years ago. The engine runs well and has good power. The transmission shifts incledibly smooth and the transfer case also shifts easily. The parking brake works great. I installed a complete new clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced less than 100 miles ago. The rear main seal is leaking which sucks because it was replaced when the clutch was done, however I think it must have been nicked while installing it. At least in these vehicles it is not a very difficult job to replace if you have some help. The starter and radiator are fairly new and all the radiator hoses were just replaced. It has a new Die Hard battery. I also installed all new seals in the knuckles and hubs in the front end. I have noticed a little wetness to the pinion side of the rear end, but it is slight. I have also modified the headlight wiring by adding relays which takes the headlight current out of the headlight switch. This prolongs the life of the switch and increases the brightness of the lights. There is an added small fuse panel in the engine compartment for the headlight relays and overhead console. The suspension is a Black Diamond 2 inch lift with greaseable shackles that rides very nice. There is also a Detroit EZ locker in the rear. Overall this is a great Land Cruiser that needs nothing to be a daily driver or weekend cruiser. I also have another set of aluminum wheels with brand new BF Goodrich All Terrain KO size 33x12.50 with maybe 1000 miles on them. I will include this second set if the vehicle sells for more than $8500, or sell separately for $500. I have taken about 60 pictures of this vehicle from every angle and will try to post a Photobucket link tomorrow. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I have a clear title in hand and can also provide a bill of sale if you need one in your state. The vehicle is for sell locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. On Apr-04-12 at 20:55:21 PDT, seller added the following information: You can view several more pictures here: http://s1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg569/radar737/ On Apr-09-12 at 12:14:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several questions about driving the vehicle long distance to get it home. I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't be able to drive all the way across the country if needed. As I stated, I drove it from Atlanta to northern West Virginia back in 2005 loaded down and towing a jet ski and it did great. But it has not been driven any distance further than 20 miles at a time since then. However, one thing to consider if you want to drive it some distance, the Super Swampers that are included with the vehicle were not balanced when they were installed on the rims. I always ran The BFG's on the road, which as I said I would include if the final price is above $8500 or I will sell separately. I can even reinstall the BFG's before it is picked up if you would like. Thanks for looking! Feel free to contact me with any other questions.
