Vehicle Detail
Hello! Unfortunately, we have to sell this amazing Toyota Previa.... it's been our family car / snow car / cargo hauler for over 5 years. But, my parents house just sold, and they need the van gone by this Sunday. Has all the cool features these vans were built with - side folding rear seats, a middle bench seat that can face forward OR backward, mid-engined platform, oil top-off fill tank, etc. We have also installed aftermarket speakers and a Sony CD player (with audio input for ipods). The van also has a class I hitch and wiring for trailer lights, though we have never used it other than for a bike rack. Yes, it is a manual transmission. We had to hunt for it for quite some time when we bought it. I've heard that, in the USA, only 1 in 20 Previas were All-trac AND 5 speed. SO, BEFORE YOU READ ON, PLEASE KNOW THAT THE WINNER OF THIS AUCTION WILL BE REQUIRED TO PICK UP THE PREVIA IN WARD, COLORADO (35 minutes west of Boulder) BY THIS SUNDAY, APRIL FIRST. (Yes, it is April fool's day, but this is no joke - arrangements must be made because the house and property where the Toyota is parked will be transferred to the new owners on Monday). That said, on to the description. We have taken good care of the van, though it currently needs a few things addressed. Here's a brief run down of the maintenance / repair history since we've owned it: Fluids checked / replaced within last 5K (including differentials, transfer case, etc.) New battery within last 20K New rear shocks within last 30K New clutch within last 50K Regular oil changes The van has only been used intermittently since last summer. We had it inspected by Independent motors in Boulder last June, and they advised that several items should be addressed. Here's the list of items that they recommended addressing: Wipers (passenger side wiper is inoperative and has been removed, and new connecting piece / wiper post is needed to fix it) Front Struts Right front inner tie rod end Left front wheel Bearing Left front CV axle (you can hear the clicking sound when turning) Front differential pinion seal Rear transfer case output seal Oil pan gasket Transmission shift shaft seal Transfer case fill plug gasket The mechanic also mentioned that, although there are many seals listed above that could use replacing, nothing was leaking so seriously that it would require topping off more than every oil change. The oil, though it does leak, goes through less than 2 quarts per oil change (I know this because the unique top off tank holds 2 quarts, and it is not empty when an oil change is needed). It has never been run low on oil since we have owned it. An oil change is also needed. The front brakes are also worn through, and at least one side has started to 'grind'. With this in mind, I would not recommend driving the car more than a short distance (personally I wouldn't want to drive it beyond the Denver area or an equivalent distance in its current condition). Engine runs great, gets awesome mileage considering it is all-wheel drive and a full size van. I think we consistently got somewhere in the 20's for MPG, though I don't know the exact number. Interior needs a cleaning but, after a good vacuuming and armor-all application, will be in pretty good shape considering its age. Glass is all good. There are a few minor dings on the body, including one near the front of the van which causes the turn signal to not fit in to its housing quite right. This is how it has been for the entire time we have owned it. Paint is fading a bit on the roof. Please keep in mind that it has to be gone on Sunday night. I will provide the address where it is located as well as any other directions, etc. after the auction ends on Sunday morning. The pictures are a few years old but are fairly accurate, apart from the passenger side windshield wiper still being installed in the photos (it is no longer on the van, parts are still under the back seat). Paint is also a little more faded now than it was then. The second picture shows the grill guard that was installed after the first picture and the ugly bra is removed (still is now). A few spots of the window tinting have also worn off on the back windows (not that sticker window tinting fyi). Also - the rear hatch was replaced at some point in the life of the van, so the key does not open the lock in the rear door. The power lock / unlock does work though, although sometimes you have to press unlock a couple times to get it fully unlocked. AC kinda works. Rear heat does not work. Tires are ok. On Mar-30-12 at 04:28:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention - the power steering belt often squeaks when the wheel is being turned.
