1999 Mazda 626LX, 118K Miles Bad Transmission Good Everything Else - Mechanic’s Special!!! It’s hard to believe but we’re back for a fourth attempt. Our latest “winner” was located approximately 100 miles away; he didn’t realize how much it would cost to tow a car from Caldwell to Philadelphia, and ultimately backed out of the deal five days after the auction close. Hopefully the fourth time is the charm! Once again, please, PLEASE … DO NOT bid to win this auction unless you intend to show up in Caldwell, New Jersey with a tow truck ready to take the car away. Third listing note: This is our third listing for this car, believe it or not. Selling this item has become an E-bay “don’t let this happen to you” – and it has nothing to do with the item, the description or biddders not meeting the reserve. On the second listing, the high bidder could not be contacted (we suspect either dormant account or fraudulent activity). Once again we waited the nine days to allow for a second chance offer. That’s when we discovered the next highest bidder lives in Russia (I swear you can’t make this up) and the second chance offer to our third highest bidder resulted in no response. The guy from Russia was very nice, very responsive – he just decided after that time he didn’t want the car any more. Please, PLEASE … DO NOT bid to win this auction unless you intend to show up in Caldwell, New Jersey with a tow truck ready to take the car away. Second listing note: We are re-listing this vehicle because of a communications foul-up. The high bidder withdrew his bid toward the end of the previous auction and the second highest bidder, figuring he lost the auction, didn’t check his Ebay messages for days – and made other automotive plans in the meantime. By the time we hooked up, he told us he didn’t need the car any more, but offered to take it anyway. Honest guy, honest mistake. We didn’t want to put him in the position of having to buy a car he no longer needed, so here we are again. You are bidding on a 1999 Mazda 626 4 door sedan with 118,000 miles on it. The transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The car will go for a mile or so, then the trans will begin to slip. This means the winner will need to tow this car from our home in Caldwell, NJ to your shop. Other than the trans, the car is in great shape. This car is ideal for someone who is – or knows someone who is – a mechanic. The engine hums and everything else under the hood works really well. It’s had its regular oil changes, has a brand new battery and the tires have plenty of tread. It was in daily use until last month, when the transmission went into intensive care J The car features a black exterior and tan interior with leather seats. There is normal wear and tear as you might expect from a car of this age and mileage. Obvious dings and scratches, as well as a tear in the seam of the driver’s side leather seat, are pictured here. Options include power steering and brakes, power windows and doorlocks, automatic transmission, AM/FM/CD stereo, power sunroof that is currently stuck in the closed position. (The motor works – you can hear it – but when the motor turns the sunroof does not engage.) It does not leak – anywhere. This would be a great investment vehicle to repair and flip, or repair and keep in the family as a kid’s first car or commuter car.
