Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my pride and joy, my 1969 Mustang Mach One with the 351 Windsor and the famous 4 speed Hurst Shifter. I have owned this vehicle since 1999 and have only put 4000-5000 miles on it at most. I simply do not drive it enough to justify keeping it. Body - The day that I acquired this car, it went straight to the body shop to get any and all body work that it needed done. The body shop did a great job getting it back to a better than factory finish. The car is back to its factory Silver Jade color. This is not a color that you see everyday and definitely stands out. The only rock chips that I can find on the car, have been touched up (see the photos). Most of the chrome, trim, and emblems on the car appears to be original and in very good shape for a 43 year old car. The front and rear bumpers I believe have been replaced, as they do not show the same minor wear that the other trim does. This is not a "body off" restoration on a six figure car where a minor rock chip would ruin it, but it is a great driver. The decals are all matching, but they are highly reflective (back and sides) so it was hard to get a picture where they all match. I did not see any rust or bubbling when going over the car. Engine/Drivetrain - This engine is hot! About 5 years ago, I decided to go through the engine and build it to be a little more fun. I have probably only put about 2500 miles on it since the build, but I do start it about twice a month, let it get up to temperature, and take it around the block a few times, if I am not going to be going to any shows or meets anytime soon. The oil is changed every 3 months (most recently last week) since it will never reach the 3,000 mile mark. I lost my information sheet on the build, so I will go off of what I can remember for sure and can verify. The engine is a 351 windsor, I believe it is the one that came in the car, but it has been 5 years since I checked, and do not remember for sure. The shortblock was put together at the machine shop and was bored .040 over. New bearings, rings, etc. were used. A Comp Cams Extreme Energy cam (230/236 .519/.523 110) was put in, as was a new timing chain. The cam gives a nice thump, but is very streetable. The factory heads were ported, polished, milled, gasket matched, a 3 angle valve job was done, 1.94/1.60 valves were installed with new seats, seals, and springs. New lifters, hardened pushrods, and aluminum roller rockers (I believe they were ford motorsports) were used to complete the package. Tall valve covers were necessary to clear the roller rockers. The rest of the parts list includes an Edelbrock 650 carb, Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold, a high performance air filter, Edelbrock Air Filter Housing, Good Year Super Hi-Miler Hoses, Summit Racing 80GPH Fuel Pump, New Thermostat & Housing, New Flex Fan (I have the original fan as well), Edelbrock Breathers for the valve covers, Pertronix Electric Ignition components, MSD 6AL (with rev limiter for safety), New Spark Plugs, New Spark Plug Wires, New Distributor Cap, new alternator, new starter, new starter relay, new throttle spring, new water pump, new oil pan, many new bolts and ARP studs where used, and I am sure I am forgetting quite a bit more. This engine is very strong. The exhaust is Hedman Ceramic Coated Long Tube Headers that goes into Flowmaster mufflers with dumps. The clutch that was in the car looked brand new when we pulled the engine, so we put it back in. It is still holding strong. All of the wiring was cleaned up and wire loom was put over it. The heater core was not hooked back up for a cleaner look in the engine bay. The hoses are still there and it could be hooked up pretty easily if the new owner wanted to. The suspension and steering components are pretty much stock or stock equivalent to my knowledge, and do not feel worn out. I added some (polished or chrome) Lakewood traction bars under the leaf springs. This car has manual steering and drum brakes in all four corners. Tires have plenty of life left. Interior - The interior of this car is mostly original and in good shape for being 43 years old. I could not justify tearing a lot of it out and taking away from the originality of the car since it really didn’t need it. The carpet, lock knobs, and radio are the only things that I know have been replaced. The seats, headliner, dash are all in very nice condition. All of the lights and instrument panel work as intended. The car did not have a parking brake release handle when I got it, so I have a make-shift one in there. The clock on the passenger side dash seems to work when it wants to. I have not explored that issue at all. There is a hidden push button start (keys still required) that was put in for security reasons. I will disclose the location to the buyer. This car was built to look stock, but run a lot better. I think it was a mission accomplished and am very proud of this car. This is not a perfect car, they were not perfect rolling off the line and they are not perfect 40+ years later. This however, is a great driver car that you can enjoy and get a lot of attention in. I renewed the insurance on it in January ($350/year), and the agreed upon value is at $28,000. This car runs great and looks awesome, it just needs a new home. The mileage on the car reads 33,389 on the odometer, but I am sure it has rolled at least once. The title states 170,000 - mileage exempt. I do the best that I can to describe the car, but because it is a 40+ year old vehicle it is sold as-is. I will be reasonable and assist with shipping if the buyer makes the arrangements and pays for the cost. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auctions end, and the full amount is due in 7 days via bank wire. The car and title will be released upon the funds clearing and not before. I will store the car inside the garage up to 14 days after the auction ends unless other arrangements have been made. An auction is a commitment to buy. Non-paying bidders will be reported to Ebay and not tolerated. If you have less than 10 positive feedback or more than half of your feedback is negative, please contact me before bidding, or your bid may be deleted. The car is for sale locally as well, and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. If there are any questions, please ask! Thank you and good luck!
