2006 SUBARU B9 TRIBECA LIMITED 7 Passenger w/DVD/Navi NEEDS ENGINE Rebuilt or Replaced One family owned (cardiologist) purchased new. Florida vehicle, non-smoker, no pets, CARFAX certified, NO ACCIDENT history. Only 98,285 miles In the interest of saving time, the Subaru was taken to a Firestone service center for an oil change. Firestone installed the wrong oil filter which caused the oil to drain which ultimately caused the engine to seize. The car was taken to Subaru of Orlando to determine the extent of the damage. They found the crank to be bad as well as metal shavings in the heads. With a constant full schedule, the time required to file a legal action against Firestone or the expense of having the dealer perform the repairs was counter productive to us. We opted to simply purchase a new vehicle. Everything that was removed in order for Subaru to perform a thorough diagnostic is 100% included. All accessories and components are properly laid out in the vehicle. The complete engine is in a separate container. For a qualified mechanic that is familiar with boxer style engines, the existing motor can easily be rebuilt for under $2K. Used engines are also readily available for between $2-$3K. The vehicle is in immaculate condition otherwise. There is NO rust or body damage. The leather is perfect, as the seats were covered. The interior is a blend of charcoal and light gray. The dash, carpets, headliner, door panels, etc., are all in excellent condition. This Limited was the top of the line Tribeca when introduced for model year 2006. It has rear DVD, Navigation and the cold weather package. 7 passenger seating Full power features, windows, mirrors, locks, cruise, power drivers seat, power moonroof, keyless entry & security system. ABS, multiple airbags and the safety of Subaru AWD. Automatic transmission Ice cold AC Premium 6 Disc CD sound system No windshield cracks. All scheduled service excluding the Firestone LOF was performed by Subaru. One month prior to the engine mishap, all 4 tires were replaced. (Bridgestones @ $1000.00) As equiped when new, this Tribeca's MSRP exceeded $35K. KBB presently categorizes & values it under private party in good condition in the mid $14's, depending upon region.
