Vehicle Detail
Hello Up for bid is my 76 Scout Traveler 4X4. I bought truck about two years ago and I will go over what's been done since I got it. Truck is a 304 w/ 727 automatic and it's a 4X4 (the 4X4 works) - dana 44s front and rear - no idea on gear ratio The good: Engine is strong and idles strong - carb has been rebuilt Tranny that was in truck was worn out so I bought a used replacement. The tranny came out of another Scout II that had 32K original miles. The guy I bought the tranny from wanted the truck it came out of for the engine because it had a 345. The tranny was swapped into mine and with that done I had two brand new custom made drive shafts and all misc parts bought new for the install to make the 4 wheel drive work. The tranny shifts smooth in all gears. I bought a Z-gate shifter to replace the stock one. All new gaskets in transfer cases and new tranny mount. All lights work and the truck has all new exterior lights and light assemblies -- also installed a plate light for when the top is off and you have it out and about - you need that to get an inspection sticker in MA All gauges if I remember work accurately The seats have been replaced and they are in good shape one blue and one green -- I also bought full black seat covers that make them look new if you want to install them All glass is solid -- both windows go up and down with no issues Heat works well Truck has a full fiberglass top and a hatch in great condition -- I also have a cut hatch in case you want to use the truck as a pick up and just use the half hatch tailgate -- that would need to be installed with some bolts I think Exhaust is straight pipes with cherry bombs -- It's not too loud until you really get on it Dash is dyed black and interior is completely rhino lined with the roll on type -- I have about a ΒΌ gallon more I will include with the truck The radio is original -- sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't The not so good: She has the typical Scout rust in floors and tub wheel well etc The fenders are decent as well as the hood. I bought solid OEM doors and installed them but the floors are so so. I added sheet metal overtop of the bad areas (pop rivets no welds) to cover the holes just so I could get it on the road. The quarters are patched in the typical spots and there are some dings here and there. After the work I did I hit it with about 10 cans of metal primer. I never got around to painting it. It looks cool in primer anyway. With that said if you are looking for a show truck this is not your truck. If you are looking for a cool truck to have fun in and turn heads this is definitely your truck. If you are looking to restore I would swap the tub and use all the other parts since they are in good shape and operational. People do this all day long with these trucks - you can get a tub online for 500 - I almost bought one to do it myself but I have zero time. She needs: New rag joint for steering -- you can order for 80 bucks online Tranny linkage hooked up to tranny -- taken off and needs to be put back on One small brake line -- broke when rag joint broke I know shippers charge extra for cars that don't steer etc so don't bid if you can't afford shipping. I'm 10 minutes north of Boston so if you are near here bring a trailer and come get it. I HAVE A CLEAN MASSACHUSETTS TITLE IN MY NAME -- I HAVE NO IDEA OF THE MILEAGE - IT SAYS I THINK 125K BUT NO IDEA THE ODOMETER IS BROKEN. TRUCK PASSED INSPECTION LAST YEAR WILL NO ISSUES I have a ton in this truck in repairs and parts I have no more time for this truck as I'm too busy with family and work obligations. If you are not serious please do not waste your time or mineIf you are local and want to look at it just let me knowTruck is for sale locally as wellThanks for looking
