The Chrysler engineers were given free rein to create whatever they wanted in a "hot rod” or "sportster" type vehicle. This was a huge change in designs to make it to production from the Big Three. The early Plymouth versions were criticized for the underwhelming performance figures. This all changed when Chrysler took over. The 253hp 3.5L engine was used in combination with a transaxle set up similar to its European counterparts. The end result was great power and a perfect 50/50 weight balance. The primarily aluminum body and chassis really made this a wonderful driving convertible. Unfortunately, production stopped in 2002 with a mere 3,000 examples…that’s it. This open car is bound to be a future collectible.
This particular example was purchased new in Atlanta. The car was always garaged and never driven in inclement weather. The current owner purchased the car in 2007. The first owner was his best friend. He had the car shipped to Southern California where it was used for weekend PCH cruising. This is the perfect person to buy a car from. He is meticulous about maintaining his toys.
No service was ever overlooked. The tires were replaced as well as a recent oil change. The car is near flawless. The paint is original with no accidents or blemishes. It looks like the day it rolled out of the dealership. The interior is equally as nice with no rips, tears, or any other blemishes. Everything works properly.
