1965 IH SCOUT WITH V8 FOUR SPEED AND WINCH Here is one awesome looking old Scout. The truck has really good bones, the original floors are solid and body is straight and the paint is pretty fresh. In 1965....International did not offer a V8 engine, so the past owner replaced the under powered 4 cyl. with a small block 350 Chevy motor with a 4 speed transmission. The engine fires up quick with no knocks, taps or puffing smoke. The carburetor seems like it needs an adjustment or kit. When you stump on the gas there is a hesitation. The clutch is good as are the brakes. But these old Scouts don't stop very good. I would do a disc brake conversion. There on eBay generally for about $650. The wheels and tires are very nice with about 80-90% tread. There are nicely done custom bumpers, and the Scout comes with a very rare "Hickey Sidewinder" winch. It is NOT hooked up and is not tested or bolted down....but very cool and period correct. The top glass is good but out and needs new rubber to install. The Scout has really nice looking seats and a roll bar installed. This Scout is awesome but I would say still a bit of a project. It does run and drive but would make a fantastic father/son project to dial the truck into a nice driver. Please call or write with any questions before bidding.
