Up For sale is the best of the spitfire years. A 1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500. It has the benefits of being pre-smog, a big deal especially here in California. It also has the double chrome bumpers rather than the ugly rubber ones that came after it. The benefits of this Spit over the older ones is that it has the larger 1500 CC engine, the better rear end, and the desirable electronic overdrive transmission. This car can get close to 40 MPG! I bought this car after a long search looking for a 1500cc 1974 that was as rust free as I could find, this one is almost perfect, The engine has been well maintained, and runs strong, it has a Webber DGV Carburetor, and a Crane Fireball ignition system. It also has an upgraded electric cooling fan that can prevent the classic spitfire overheat. The transmission was rebuilt by the prior owner using new parts from Spitbits including replacing the shift forks and the synchronizers. Also replaced was the rear main seal and clutch. Not wanting to be chased by Lucas prince of darkness a a new fully labeled wiring harness from headlights to taillights with a modern fuse block was installed. It has modern Auto meter gauges, and is prewired for Stereo, Auxiliary power etc… The car now has 20 different fused circuits instead of the original three, so if something pops the fuse, it doesn’t shut down the whole car (If you have owned an older car, you know what I mean!). Cosmetically, the car came with the ultra rare and rarely seen original Lucas optional upgrade magnesium wheels. The exhaust is a custom made upswept 4 chrome tipped with a fantastic exhaust note(see short videos below) Tires have lots of tread left. Brakes goodf. A new ragtop was put on by the last owner. It still needs the interior gone through. It has Corbeau racing seats with racing seatbelt harnesses but the upholstery is shot, It now has seatcovers. Drivers side outside door latch needs to fixed. The turn signal lever is loose. Some weather-stripping needs to be replaced, The electrical needs to be finished, It runs and drives very nice, but it needs a few things reconnected things like the wipers, the highbeam indicator etc, the connection for the electronic overdrive, and a new Oil pressure sending unit (Gauge works, and pressure is stable, but sender died on me) and new wiper blades. There are also two dents in the car, one on the nose and one over the left rear wheel well. Other than that the car is a true beauty. The metallic blue paint with the silver racing stipes looks fantastic. It always gets tons of attention and thumbs up when it's out on the road! I will include a complete set of brand new Chamfered wheel studs to upgrade the studs for racing and a car cover.
