Vehicle Detail
Due to divorce I am having to sell some of my prized toys. Up for bids is my 1972 IH 4X4 3/4 ton Travelall. This is a RARE TRUCK with the rear Barn Doors instead of the fold down tail gate in the rear. I bought this a couple of years ago planning on making it a family camper puller. It originally belonged to the Denver Police Department and has 52000 original miles. Keep in mind that these were most likely all city miles so there are some rattles and and the old girl wonders around a bit. I put a 3 inch body lift in it and 35 inch tires on it. Tires are in great condition. Other than that it is pretty much all original. It has the 345 engine and automatic transmission with lock out hubs. It smokes a little when first started like most Internationals but clears up and runs good. All the running gear works good and tranny is tight. Has power drum brakes and power steering. I put a new JVC stereo and new speakes in it. Gas gage doesnt work and I tested it and it needs a new sending unit which is very easy to get at. Has a really heavy duty altenator with it's own amp gage police dept had put in to run all the extra accesories. It did have some rust that was cut out and fixed by the guy I bought it from. Front floor boards were replaced and rear quarters and hood hinge brackets were replaced or fixed. He did a nice job on the floors, hood mounting area, and lower rear quarters but wheel wells could use some touching up. There is also some rust under the kick plates on top of the rockers that you can't see unless you remove kick plate. Paint job is so so. Front seats are nice and are electric but need the wire ran to it. They do work well. This truck is in good condition for a 40 year old truck. I have only driven it locally but it seems to be very dependable. It will need a little TLC but will make a great truck. I get thumbs up where ever I drive this thing. If you have any questions feel free to call at 701-220-6253. Thanks and Good Luck On Feb-18-12 at 14:33:57 PST, seller added the following information: Someone wanted to see some pictures of the underbody. I have added them here for you to see. Previous owner had under coated it after he replaced the front floorboards. Also someone asked me about oil leaks. I wanted to add that engine does have some minor leaks so it is oily under engine by front diff. Previous owner also changed oil in engine and all gear boxes and replaced the oils with all synthetic oil. That may be the cause of some of the leaking, you might want to change oil in engine back to regular oil. It is also dripping a little antifreeze from one of the hoses. Most likely from sitting around so much. I have only driven it once since last summer but it has been stored inside. Feel free to ask any other questions as I want to be as honest as possible and want you to be happy with what you buy. Thanks
