For those who do not understand the significance and racing history of AMG, let me explain.
AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 under the name AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.), by former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters "AMG" stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and GroBaspach, Aufrecht's birthplace (but at no time an AMG location). In 1976 most of AMG moved to Affalterbach, with the racing engine development remaining at the old location in Burgstall. At this time Erhard Melcher ceased to be a partner, but continued to be an employee at the Burgstall location. In 1990, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of cooperation, allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz's extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG, in 1993). On January 1st, 1999 DaimlerChrysler, as it was called between 1998 and 2007, acquired 51 percent of AMG shares, and AMG was renamed to Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Racing engine development was divested and continues to exist in Burgstall under the name HWA (Aufrecht's initials).
The entire platform of development was based on the principal of One man- One engine. This master technician was responsible from start to finish of the engine and drivetrain components and it shows after one drive. His signature is hand engraved on the top of the engine block. This black beauty features a powerful 5.4 litre supercharged engine near 500 hp coupled with a mighty 5 speed auto/manual transmission, dynamic seats that heat, cool, massage and have bolsters that adjust with lateral g pressure. Navigation, rear power curtain, Bose Enriched Sound System. Rear vanity fold down mirrors with lights, the best available wood and leather surfaces. A beautiful low mileage example all the way around. Everything has been done to make this car like new again. A light impact for Mercedes standards had damage to front bumper and radiator so the title is rebuilt and has received a safety inspection . Only authorized German Audi/Mercedes/Porsche/BMW technicians were used to rebuild this car. All fluids have been flushed and refilled including transmission, radiator, hydraulic and fresh mobil 1 oil. All belts are new and the car just purrs til you step on the gas and then it roars. There is absolutely no frame damage at all. Car drives perfect. Both front fenders were never touched in the rebuild to give you an idea of the soft impact. 4 Fresh 100% new matching Sumitomo's plant this beast firmly to the road. The tires come with a full 40,000 mile written nationwide warranty with free replacement for the first year of ownership starting Jan 15, 2012. The front tires are 245/45/18 and rear tires are 265/40/18 speed rated tires as recommended by the factory. The performance is unheard of with a car this large. Acceleration is brisk. 0-100 KPH (62 mph) is achieved in only 4.2 seconds. This car will exceed 186 mph. Drives perfectly straight down the road as if it was just built. There are no rattles, shakes or noise at any speed!!!!!! Nothing feels quite as good as an almost 3 ton automobile moving so fast with the best comfort of any super luxury car in the world. Brakes are massive and stop this car fast. This car rates a solid 9 out of 10 inside and out. If it wasnt for too very tiny dings (see pic barely noticeable) behind passenger rear tail light quarter panel it would be a 9.5. Almost no curb rash on any of the AMG rims. This one is a great candidate for export as these pre-owned Mercedes supercars can sell for around $40K-$50K in oversea markets. Please only the most responsible bidders on Ebay to engage in bidding.
