Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1962 Impala 2 door hardtop project car that has been converted to a 1962 Bel Air 2 door hardtop-Bubbletop clone. The body was removed from the frame and the entire underside soda blasted clean and painted gloss black. The frame and suspension has been completely cleaned-sandblasted and painted with chassis black. No other restoration work has been done to the frame and suspension. All other exterior parts, with exception of the top, were also taken down to bare metal and coated with epoxy primer, and is currently topcoated with 2K primer. This was all done when I started this project as a 62 Impala. Since then I've only roughed in the top and subsequently dusted it with primer. Everything still needs sanding and blocking before final paint. The drivers floor pan was replaced with a new pan..both lower quarters were also replaced with new full length skins. The fenders were commercially stripped and de-rusted, and only needed very minor rust repair. Good solid inner and outer rockers, doors, hood and bel air deck lid. A new gas tank, sending unit and mounting kit is included as well as a new valance panel. The car has a good driver quality grill, headlight bezels, rear glass, and side glass. Both sides of the vent window glass need replacing. Complete set of non restored bumpers and brackets. The windshield has no cracks but does have an old rock chip repair..appears to have some light hazing along with a couple of wiper scratches, otherwise it's still a useable piece. Still needs the usual hood and deck lid reproduced trim pieces and inner fenders. The top has a very nice set of drip rail mouldings as well as all of the headliner mouldings, a complete set of windshield and rear glass mouldings, a bel air steering column with correct steering wheel and horn cap assembly, a CHEVROLET (bel air specific) deck lid emblem, a pair of bel air qtr panel emblems and a bel air dash emblem..all non restored and very hard to find. The only 2 non reproduced bel air items that I do not have are the bel air body side mouldings and the split bench seat...My plan for the car was to have a smooth and shaved exterior, otherwise I would have already purchased the side mouldings. I do know where a nice set of unrestored mouldings can be purchased as well as a seat. Now for the really neat part. The engine is a fresh, sealed, .030 over, balanced 409 (dated '64). Everything internally is new including 10.5:1 pistons, Isky mechanical cam & lifters, ARP bolts thru out, stock GM connecting rods and a .010-.010 stock GM crankshaft. New Edelbrock complete 60619 aluminum heads and push rods, new rocker arms and Comp Cam Poly Locks, Enduroshine Intake, Carbs, Air Cleaner and Valve Covers, MSD electronic distributor with a matching MSD external coil, all coupled to a Borg Warner T10 tranny (dated '63), new Hurst shifter and installation kit, new driveshaft u joints and center bearing. The car still needs work, but as you can see the hard part and the most expensive part has been completed!! As you can see a LOT of money has gone into this project. I've tried to describe the vehicle the best I can so please don't expect me to give the car away, please don't ask for my reserve and please don't hesitate to ask questions before bidding. Remember, if you bid-YOU BID TO WIN. Any funds other than cash will have to clear my bank before the title or vehicle is released. If full payment is not received within 7 days of auction closing then the transaction is cancelled and the car will be re-listed.The car is for sale locally and the seller reserves the right to end the auction early. Thanks for looking and good luck!!
