Vehicle Detail
1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass known as "Hush Hush". This award-winning custom is done in traditional/oldschool lowrider style. This car has been in many high profile car shows and publications. It was a Class Award Winner at the 2011 Grand National Roadster Show. The car has also been awarded numerous Best Paint and Best of Show trophies at various events in both Southern and Northern California. It has also been seen in various magazines in the US and overseas. Lowrider Magazine, Flywheels Magazine Japan, Deadend Magazine just to name a couple. Do a google image search for "67 cutlass hush hush". Lots of web documentation. The standout feature on this car is definitely the paint. I spent months working with Alex Valdez to put together a gameplan for the car. The goal was to build an accurate representation of a traditional lowrider built in the late 70's. The specific techniques and patterns were directly inspired by actual builds of that era. Alex Valdez is a very talented up and coming painter out of the Bay Area. His work has been featured on multiple high profile and award-winning cars and motorcycles. This is one of a select few full cars that he has painted and is a shining example of his talent and skill set. Oldschool/traditional paint techniques are his specialty. And he went all out on this car, incorporating lace, fades, fans, scales, ribbons, all over a heavy silver metalflake base. It must be seen to be appreciated. The buyer will get a full build book with lots of photos detailing just about every step of the paintjob. Lots of before, during, and after shots. This car has a squeaky clean title. I am the 3rd owner. Second was original owner's son. Its an original california black plate car sold at Dick Browning Oldsmobile in Long Beach California. Original black plate is on the car. This really is a great car for anyone who loves this style and the rich history that comes with it. It stops people in their tracks, always shows well, and looks great on the Boulevard. It is a driven street custom true to its roots. The new owner can leave it as is and enjoy the heck out of it. Or take it even further and continue the build. I've enjoyed every second of this ride. Now it's your turn. Specs: -67 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. -2dr Hardtop.-Original 330 engine. Never been pulled.-Newly rebuilt Q-jet, 4 brl.-Original 3spd auto trans. Dash pad is not permanent and can be removed(simply lifted of) in favor of the factory black dash pad which is in very nice condition. No cracks or anything. Very nice.-Custom bodywork and paint by Alex Valdez in Northern California.-New weather stripping from Steele Rubber. Prohopper.-Custom padded 1/2 vinyl Landau roof in silver.-Lots of redone chrome and repolished trim.-Dual exhaust and new piping recently installed. Rear pipes have been repositioned since photos were taken. They are now straight out the back, level with the frame. Not angled upward like in the photos. Color Bar, reverb, 8track player, vintage tv and rabbit ear antenna will not be sold with the car. What it could use: -Rechromed bumpers to be show quality 10 out of 10. They're really nice driver quality right now. No flaking or hazing. Just not brand new. 7 out of 10. Front is 8 out of 10. -New o-rings at trans speedo housing. Mechanically, everything works fine, but occasionally I get a leak at the speedo cable. I've tightened it and it goes away for a while. But I've been told I need to replace the inner o-rings to prevent continued leakage. It's an easy fix, just haven't gotten around to it.-Engine could use a valve adjustment. I get a lifter tick at higher rpms. -Been wanting to do an oil pan gasket. No crazy oil leaks, just a little "oily discharge" around the pan. -Has new plugs and runs strong, but maybe new plug wires in the future. -Maybe some engine detailing. Like hiding wires, basic cleanup, just to make it look more show presentable.-Has newer reproduction hood hinges, but they need to be aligned a little better for perfect hood fitment. But hood does open and close just fine.-Driver seat has a tear along the seam. Old thread, open seam about 8-10" long. Started not too long ago. Needs either repair or recovered to be perfect.-Original black loop carpet could use dye job or a good cleaning. No rips at all. Just a little old. Its never been changed.-Basically, just a little maintenance and chasing down a couple quick fixes on minor issues. I just want to be honest that this car gets driven and requires maintenance like every other driver. People think just because its been in indoor shows and magazines, that its a trailer queen show car. Nope. Not this one. It gets driven with pride. Therefore it has it's own little issues like most street-driven cars. But it is a great cruiser. So there it is. If you have any questions, just ask. I'm open to offers, trades, partial/combo deals, international sales, etc. DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE ME AN OFFER. I'm open-minded. The worst thing I'll say is no thanks.
