1968 Oldsmobile 442 QUICK REFERENCE Car: 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Exterior Color Silver Green Body Style hardtop Interior Color Black Engine V8 400 cubic inch Vin 344878M150313 Transmission TurboHydromatic 400 Miles 28359.7 ADDITIONAL VEHICLE PHOTOS VEHICLE DESCRIPTION Here is a great looking and drive muscle car that turns heads everywhere and gets "thumbs up" consistently when driving to and from Car shows!! 1968 Oldsmobile 442 V8 400 cubic inch engine TurboHydromatic transmission Air Conditioning PowerSteering Power Brakes Bucket Seats SSII style rims Lots of work has been done to this car and it shows! This car is ready to play with the big boys at any car show or drag strip. I purchased this car back in 2006 from a gentleman in New Mexico, and it came with a folder of reciepts that show lots of small parts replaced with GM restoration parts, as well as the engine being rebuilt with 30 over pistons, a 10/10 crank, and new cam/rockers over the last 20 years. This car was babied and it shows as everything is clean and easy to work on/adjust. My wife and I drove it for several years and then family came along. Car was put into storage for a few years. Last year, the car came out of storage and I done a lot of work to make her road worthy. The engine was pulled and all gaskets were replaced. Transmission has new front/rear seals, radiator was rebuilt. The interior was freshened up with new dash pad, new carpet, new bucket seat foam and covers, with very nice seat heaters installed and controlled with a easy to reach but well hidden switch. The door panels, rear seat covers, and headliner are all new as well. I also had a new front windshield and a new back window installed. While the car was being repainted, the trim was restored or replaced and both the front and rear bumper were rechromed. Heck I even had new mirror glass put into the driver side mirror! There is not much else that needs to be done to this car for any new owner. There are still a few outstanding things that need to be addressed. The current radio is not the correct factory unit, but I do have a correct AM radio to go with this car. The clock in the dash is not working. There is a set of aftermarket oil presure - water temp gauges installed as the car has the standard gauge pack. The previous owner cut the doors for speakers holes (hidden behind new door panels) so those need to be patched. The car was originally a bench seat 442, but now has bucket seats of which aftermarket bucket seat brackets have been welded in. The engine distributor is a later model HEI unit, but I do have the correct point style distributor to go with the car. The Carburator is not the numbers matching unit, but is a correct Olds carburator. This is a rust free car with the exception of the surface rust starting to happen in the truck which can be seen in the pictures. Only other thing I would suggest replacing is the exhaust as it is older steel with cherry bomb mufflers. This car is a joy to look at, fun to show, and even more fun to drive. You will recieve a lot of respect in this car as it is mostly original and not chopped up or chromed out or donked. I have lots of pride in driving this car and will miss this wonderful car, but it is time for it to goto another Oldsmobile gearhead who will give it the attention and time she need. Feel free to ask me questions and I will answer as quickly as I can. For faster response, please send me your phone number and I will call you as soon as I am able.
