1964 ThunderbirdLow RESERVE - dont miss this one ! This is a well optioned, super clean body Rust Free Az car that even with paint and minor interior work would be worth 15k or more. 390 Motor thats been warmed over. Last owner was a Ford mechanic and the family told me that he rebuilt the motor about 10 yrs or so ago. In doing so, he has replaced some of the motor parts with 427 FE parts. Not exactly what parts he did but the car does have great power and torque. It wasnt just some chrome valve covers for looks. Ive thought about pulling at least 1 of the valve covers off to see whats under it, to get may some idea what heads are on it. The Holley carb prob needs to be rebuilt and Im sure it can use some new plugs. We installed new wires. Its just harder to start then normal when cold sometimes and runs rich. But then again the choke isnt working correctly either. Interior good for a daily driver, with some finishing touches it would be choice. Think 2 of the PW work okay. The Auto transmission selector detent is well worn so in order for the car to start you have to hold up the selector arm in PARK or move it down to NEUTRAL for it to crank because of the safety switch. I have a new Detent, but not installed it yet. Paint would be easy with such a clean Az body / chassis. Dont see any signs of previous wrecks or damage. AC car with some compressor missing Options like: PS (small leak) PW AC , Swing A Way steering wheel and more. Cars been in AZ its whole life as far as we can track. Paint is faded from the AZ sun Trunk lock missing but trunk is not damaged. Original exhaust is leaking near the rear and louder then normal. RESTORED BACK TO STOCK , IT WILL ONLY GO UP IN VALUE AS WE ALL KNOW Obviously its been repainted at least once about 25 yrs ago a the factory color. Clearly showing its age. Bid it to win it ! dont regret you didnt later ! If you can find a more rust free unmolested 64 2dr Bird out there for better money, by all means go buy it. If you can find one as well represented as our T BIRD , by all means, buy it. But if you buy another one, we wish you the best. Hardly driven much in the last 10 yrs. Smokes a little, not sure if its valve seals or carb. Tires are like new. Most of the important trim and components all there making the restoration more Original and easier. Interior: Clean, better then most AZ cars of this age !! Chrome and stainless inside is very nice. These cars overflo the Art Deco look of the 60s. Obviously this is not a restored car. Most of these cars were run into the ground and really USED up as you might expect them to be. The cars body and chassis are very clean and RUST FREE They are only original ONCE. Anyone can throw shiney paint and a bunch of off the shelf aftermarket parts on a car and say its "restored" But the value for your $ doesnt make worth buying. 71 SS CAMAROS restored back to the way it came off the showroom have excellent values. An ERA alot of us remember like it was just yesterday. We really try to have realistic prices on all of our auctions and want to sell cars, not sit on them for another year.
