Vehicle Detail
1970 INTERNATIONAL SCOUT 800 A V8 Since you’re looking to invest in an International Scout, here’s a few good reasons to invest in this one. First of all...1970 was the last full production year of the 800 series of the Scout. All the improvements had been done. Second...this truck was equipped with a factory V8 engine. Much more power. Third...and I’ve never seen a late model 800A with a folding windshield. This Scout has one, and no, it’s not modified, and no, it’s not an earlier body tub. The original body decals from IH are marked with the production date of 9/1969. The most significant reason to go after this Scout is... the body! I’ve owned more than Twelve early series Scouts and have two now. This Scout has the best over all body of them all! I have found no rust, Bondo, or dents anywhere on this truck. The only ??? Is the lower tailgate where a steel plate as been added. The original floors and sheet metal are amazing and I would be happy to send pictures of any requested areas. The Scout has been stored for a number of years, but starts up and runs really strong. I have not tried running off the fuel tanks for fear of bad fuel, so it’s currently running fresh fuel off a one gallon can and will easily drive onto a trailer. Ebay sells new fuel tanks. There about $178. The Scout current has a Scout II automatic transmission in it, but I have the original standard and the clutch pedal still is mount in the truck. The original transmission is included. So you can go either way easy. No crud cutting has been done to this Scout. There is a notch on the transmission hump for the shifter, but these are easy the find and replace if you want. The original color was the IH gold. The clear coat is burned up top. The original bucket seats have just been reupholstered, and the Scout has an awesome roll bar for safety installed. The Scout sits on nice looking 33inch BF Goodrich tires and attractive chrome wheels. The Scout has a back seat but it’s not an original. Of course the top unbolts and makes a FULL convertible. The air cleaner is missing and the radio. I have driven this truck, but not at freeway speeds. The brakes are able to stop the truck, but will need at least to be bleed. On Jan-05-12 at 05:53:58 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THE TRUCK IS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. IT WILL DRIVE ONTO A TRAILER AND I AM INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL STANDARD TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE. IT IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY NICE SCOUT.
