Vehicle Detail
I purchased this truck last year to build as my daily driver. It came rust free from Southern Oklahoma. I have had the same truck in the past and new it was reliable and got around 50 MPG. I was building this for my personal commuter (around 80 miles a day), so no details were missed. I recently changed jobs which is 3 miles from home. These short drives would be hard on a diesel engine so I decided to sell. At the time I was a machinist at a performance engine builder, so the engine was rebuilt to very tight tolerances. The following machine work was performed. Bake, Blast and Magnaflux block Equalize and deck mill block Align hone mains Bore (.030” over), Hone and Plateau hone cylinders Recondition connecting rods. Magnaflux and polish crankshaft Balance rotating assembly Assemble with NEW pistons, rings, bearing and seals All sheet metal parts were bead blasted and repainted new Cylinder head core valve guides and seats were replaced Seat work was performed with multi angle intake and radius exhaust cutters on a Serdi head machine. New springs, retainers and locks installed after setting spring pressures Cam shaft was checked and polished. All OEM gaskets were used. New timing belt and ALL new hoses under the hood. New head bolts. New clutch and pressure plate. Transmission is a 5 speed manual ( I had it checked out by a local trans. Shop). If you were to have this much machine work done to an engine it would be over $5,000.00. While the engine was out, I painted all of the engine compartment and went thru all the wiring, and replaced the fluid resevoir’s. New wheel bearings (front and rear) New C.V. joints and boots. New master cylinder, brake cylinders, calipers, rotors, drums, shoes and pads. The battery is strong, but is over size and does not fit correctly Entire body was wet sanded and epoxy sealed. Painted with base coat clear coat, inside jams with the doors removed, bumpers off, glass out etc. I do have some left over paint that will go with the vehicle. The bed got a double coat of Rhino liner. Interior is in rough shape, but all there. The Odometer was not working, but it read 78,000 miles. Was replaced with a used unit from another vehicle. Since the majority of work was done I have not driven it but about 20 miles. The engine will need to be treated as new and broken in accordingly. It has been sitting for the last couple of months. I went out yesterday, it was below freezing and started right up. I have this truck listed locally, so I have the right to end the listing early. 12/21/11 I have had several questions regarding break in: The manual states, do not exceed 62 mph for the first 300mile then do not exceed 72 mph for the next 300 miles. Gradually increse speeds after that period. Retorque cylinder head bolts and check valve clearance at 1,000 miles. 12/21/11 I have added a picture of the interior, as I stated all the parts are there, including the door weatherstripping. I would replace the door weatherstripping as it is in poor condition.
