Vehicle Detail

You are looking at an extremely rare LeMans Sport Convertible that is heavily optioned. It was also a GM Executive car that was retained until 1972 and then sold at a factory auction according to the PHS documents. It has a numbers matching 455 HO motor and Turbo 400 automatic transmission, the GTO endura nose option, air conditioning, power windows, door lockas, steering and disc brakes. It is bucket seats with a console. It has other options that I will list once I find the PHS on it which should be Monday. We have had this particular car for a number of years and acquired it from a customer who lost interest in the project. When we received the LeMans from the customer, it was in pretty rough condition. The rear quarters, trunk floor, rear seat back support, frame and windshield header were rotted requiring extensive rebuilding. We obtained a complete rear clip and replaced all the rusted components in addition to the upper windshield header. The passenger compartment floors were patched. All of the work was professionally repaired and all welded areas were repaired so as to not to appear as being replaced. The frame was sand blasted and powdercoated. The front and rear suspension were completely rebuilt and the suspension components were also sand blasted and powdercoated. The front fenders were patched in the lower rear panels also. All of the panels were body worked, block sanded, prepped and primed. New body mounts were also installed when the body was reinstalled. All of the body panels were edged in the original paint color followed by a clear coat. The numbers matching 455HO motor and the Turbo 400 transmission were professionally rebuilt. The 455HO received hardened valve seats and a .030 overbore with new pistons bumping the compression from 8.2 to 9.5. The Turbo 400 received a shift improver kit and a torque converter along with the rebuild. The steering box was replaced and the steering components were also replaced. New disc brakes on the front were also replaced. I do not remeember if we rebuilt the rear axle or rear brake drums. That is where the project stopped. We have moved this car around for many years but it has always been indoors. The body has picked up some minor dents over the years but nothing major. We have the convertible top frame and old top, most of the interior and some of the underhood and engine compartment components. There are parts missing, I just do not know exactly what but the car is largely there and really is a very easy project as all of the hard work is done. The original paint code is 78 which os Rosewood Metallic and it has the white bucket seat interior. Remember, this is still a project car. It is available for viewing at our facility and if you have any questions, feel free to call 845-712-5500 during normal business hours. We have lien paperwork on the car that comes with the sale but will need to be transferred to the new owner or just on a bill of sale.On Dec-25-11 at 08:59:41 PST, seller added the following information: I have been getting a lot of questions asking what the Rosewood color looks like. The photo at the end is of a hardtop but that is a good representation of what the color is. It also has power driver seat and a white convertible top.
