Vehicle Detail

Absolutely loaded (unique combination) and _heavily_ serviced 2002 Avalanche 1500 4x4. 5300 Vortec with 285hp. Fresh MD inspection so no surprises! One of the unique aspects is that it has the factory towing package but with 3.73 gearing for better highway mileage... from what I understand an usual combination that's highly desirable for lightweight towing (rated at ~7900lbs) like most of us do. (I rarely towed over 3000lbs with it... never even used the new high end fully integrated digital brake controller which comes with it) It has every single option that I'm aware of. Z71 off road package, towing package (inc the special tow/haul transmission setting which is wonderful and allows towing in overdrive), cold weather package (heated seats), full power leather/memory, dual action sunroof with shade, posi rear, and get this... the factory camping package! Yep, it comes with it's own tent that turns it into a quasi-rv! Pushbutton 4wd (2 wheel high, 4 wheel high, 4 wheel low, and a unique "auto" setting which kicks in the front wheels if it senses slippage from the rear) Remote locks/alarm, dual airbags, ABS, etc... you know the drill. AM/FM/CD with an aftermarket setup for satellite radio AND an Ipod jack (charges Ipod and works and an Aux in for the system). I have an XM receiver which I can include if wanted... otherwise it's set up to plug in your own. Also has OnStar. Also has the reversible alloy cargo retainer (not pictured), hood and window deflectors, factory rubber bed mat, factory hard shell 3 piece bedcover, top of the line Weather Tech carpeted mats, and of course has the cool storage lockable saddlebags in the rear that can double as a cooler. Factory 17" alloy rims and newish 265/70-17 AT tires (not the ones pictured... replaced since then). Very good in the mud and snow and a very nice, quiet ride. Original paint... very few dings, no rust... still looks almost like new. Heavily serviced... you will find loads of Avalanches for sale... but few that have been serviced like this. I've spent well over $4000 in the last year (all new brakes... I mean new... not rebuilt... new calipers and rotors all around), rebuilt rear (had a slight bearing rumble so we rebuilt the whole thing), new power steering pump, etc and previously to that fixed all the standard GM issues from this era (including a new ignition switch, that bit in the steering column which makes the steering feel like crap, etc)... complete 100k mile GM service/tune up. You should be good to go for another 100k. Complete service records available. Of course, I'll include a MD inspection. What is not working? The power mirror switch (did I mention heated mirrors?) just started being recalcitrant... I assume it will need to be cleaned or replaced. That's it... Everything else is working 100%. Could use a good deep cleaning/detailing and the leather is due for its biannual conditioning. Replacement price today would be pushing $50,000 and this was likely ~$40k back in 2003. So of course the "why are you selling?". Obviously I would never have spent the money I did on it recently if I intended on selling it. While I've never been crazy about the way it looks, it's one of the most versatile and well designed vehicles I've ever driven... can easily haul a full size motorcycle, 4x8 plywood, etc... it's really like a 4 door pickup with an 8' bed but in a compact package. And with the windows down, sunroof open, and back open, it's like driving around in a Jeep CJ! So I've really enjoyed the truck. I lucked across a highly modified diesel Suburban from TX (rust free) with a Gear Vendor electric overdrive system in it... set up to tow 10,000 lbs and gets low 20's on the highway. Even rarer than this unusually optioned Avalanche AND loud and obnoxious... so I had to have it. ;-) My wife was thrilled (not... she _much_ prefers the Avalanche), But I only need one vehicle like this (and just started a '50 Chevy truck project) so she goes up on the block. (The Avalanche, not the wife.) So here's the deal... $11,500. Below clean retail for a lesser equipped truck and one without all the expensive recent service (which any other truck you bought would likely be ready for.) I don't have to sell, so I'm not interested in any low ball offers, but all serious cash offers near my price will be considered. Also (just to keep it interesting) I'll consider partial trades of interesting vintage cars + cash. No projects really wanted (already chockerblock full of those) but if you've got something basically turnkey that's unique... drop me a line. I like old station wagons, trucks, convertibles, sports cars, microcars, Euro stuff like Jaguar, Bentley, etc. Prefer 60's (plus or minus a decade or so) but am open minded and not a purist... so hot rods, engine swaps, etc... all fair game. So if you are trying to sell that old xxx but you know the market is down and nobody is buying... here's a chance to at least turn it into a nice modern vehicle. Might even trade up for the right car... but it's have to be darn special because I might find myself sleeping in it. ;-) Detailed pix available
