Vehicle Detail
This is a totally original car that’s been in PA all its life. Title is dated May 23, 1956. I’ve owned the car 6 years. During that time the following repairs were made: New exhaust system, front to rear, both sides, with NOS parts, not stuff jerry-rigged to fit, new brakes, including wheel cylinders and hoses, done just last year, new battery, replaced rear main bearing seal, new starter solenoid and rebuilt carburetor. I was never able to find a pair of tail pipe tips for it, but the rest of the exhaust is NOS. I also replaced the rear coil springs. There is evidence of some minor rust repair in the rear dog legs behind the doors, probably from way back when the car saw some use in winter. There is some road rash on the rear fenders behind the wheels, but no rust through. Floors, trunk inner rockers, front fenders, are completely rust free. Paint is original with some deterioration on the front fenders and thin spots on the roof and trunk lid. Chrome is original and dull from age, but still has some shine. Rear bumper J-bars are rusted and should be replaced. Interior is immaculate and completely original with dealer installed slip covers. The carpets are a bit faded from old age, but decent, as is the trunk. It also has four new tires, correct 8:00x15 Coker 3” whitewalls. Spare tire is a Remington 3” whitewall that matches the rest of the car. The hard to find foot-operated jack is with the car. I found this at garage sales years ago. It was about the only part missing, plus the battery hold down. I have an aftermarket one with the car, but don’t have a group 60 battery in it. All gauges and speedometer work, although the speedometer reads fast and the gas gauge seems to work better in warm weather. I had the radio and clock fixed when I got the car and they work. Horn works, windshield wipers do not. They worked until I put a new fuel pump on last year. I suspect the fuel pump was not rebuilt properly, but I didn’t return it for credit as I was quite disappointed in the guy who did the work. It also has an auxiliary electric fuel pump for emergency use or priming when the car has been siting a while. I installed a new gas tank last year. Engine runs great with no smoke and does not overheat. Even some of the original hoses and heater hoses are still on the car as well as the metal clamps that hold the fuel lines. The car it completely original and unmolested. Any work I did on it was done with correct NOS parts. Nothing has been modified or messed around with to make it fit. Transmission is perfect, doesn’t leak or slip. I hate to sell this car, but other priorities have to be addressed so I’m reducing my collection. I think the opening bid is very reasonable based on what I’ve seen these are selling for in worse shape than this one. It’s also far less than what I have invested. Car is currently licensed and inspected, road worthy and ready to go. Please e-mail with any questions. Buick@ptd.net
