Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a documented and real Mach 1 with 35,100 original miles and 2 owners. The first owner had the car until 1989 but parked it in 1980. The second owner purchased the car and still currently owns it. We have consigned it for him and have it at our facility available for inspection. The Mustang received a pretty poor quality repaint prior to the 2nd owner buying it and apparently had some small dents in it that were fixed at the same time from what we have been able to tell. The 2nd owner took great care of it and unfortunately was involved in a minor accident recently that has now made him decide to sell the car. The accident involved a vehicle running a stop sign and hitting the right door and quarter panel. The right door will need to be replaced and the quarter can be repaired or replaced depending on your preference. No structural damage that we can tell and the door still opens and closes without much difficulty. We looked over the car and found the following issues that we feel should be mentioned so you are clear as to what you are buying. The floor pans in the right and left passenger compartment have rust in them and will require replacement at some point in the near future. The driver side door has rust in the bottom of it and would probably be best to be replaced. The left door hinge pillar has 2 small rust holes in it that can be easily patched. There are a couple of small holes in the rails towards the front and rear sections of the right floor that can be patched. The trunk floor, rear body panel and the front frame rails and aprons appear to be solid and unrusted. The rear quarter panels appear to be rust free also as do the front fenders. Just to be clear, I cannot see under the paint but they do not appear to have problems. The paint job is okay from 30 feet or so but I would repaint the entire car to make it look right and beautiful. The interior has some minor wear issues but nothing that needs immediate replacement. The gauges work, there is an added tachometer on the steering column as well as a water temperature gauge to the left of the column. The factory clock does not work. In driving the car, the car rides solid and is well controlled in its original suspension. We checked and it appears that all of the original ball joints, and other components are the ones that it left the Ford factory with. The steering is typical Mustang wander and the power steering box probably will require replacement or rebuild in the near future. We have a lot of documentation to support the mileage and receipts for the car. We also have the original window sticker. It is a 4 wheel drum brake setup, power steering, automatic transmission, am radio, clock and Mach 1 group.
