Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a largely complete black 1939 Mercury Coupe, along with a green 4-door parts car. Neither one has a title, or an engine. Both have been stored outdoors in New Mexico for a long time. Actual mileage is unknown. Many of the parts missing from the coupe are on the 4-door: the parts car has a transmission, front stabilizer, hood hinges, more complete dash, better running boards, and a better cowl vent. The passenger-side quarter window regulator and panel are missing from the coupe, and the 4-door won't help. The coupe is missing the front seat; the sedan has a seat, but it is not the divided kind. Both cars are missing the radiators, horns, hubcaps, and transmission covers. On the coupe, the passenger door was opened too hard, which sprung the hinges a bit, and lightly dented the cowl panel. The front fenders and grille are in good condition, with small dings. The back fenders are dented and torn. There are two dents in the middle of the trunk lid, and a smaller dent in the back of the roof. The floor inside the car is good. The trunk floor has a few rust holes, the tail pan has dents and some minor rust. The runningboards are rough, but the sedan ones are better. There is minor rust in the bottoms of the doors and the lower edge of the body. The firewall looks good. There are big holes from a radio antenna on the driver's cowl side. The coupe has pretty good bumpers, but some guards are missing. The headlights have been replaced with aftermarket sealed-beam adapters, and we do not have the correct ones. Inside the coupe are some unattached parts, most of which will be needed on the coupe. There is a hood ornament and handle, with some pits, two glovebox doors with one clock, two painted taillights with Duolamp lenses, painted trunk handle, four NOS gauge units, ignition and trunk locks with keys. The high bidder should contact the seller within 48 hours of the auction end to arrange payment and pickup. The buyer needs to arrange for pickup or shipping; we will be happy to help load. Payment must be received within 10 days, and storage will be charged if the cars are not picked up within 30 days. On Dec-04-11 at 20:33:28 PST, seller added the following information: There are no titles to either car. It is possible to title the cars, but it is expensive. We have to have the cars inspected, get a clearance from the motor vehicle agency that the cars were never stolen, then buy a bond. This takes up to 30 days and costs about $300.00 per car. We can work with the purchaser on getting clear titles, and if the auction turns out well, we can afford to share the expense.
