Vehicle Detail
Are you tired of seeing untold numbers of Camaros, Chevelles, El Caminos and Mustangs on the road? Do you yearn for something a little out of the ordinary? Do you have some free time and don't mind a little elbow grease? Would you like a car you can be proud of because you brought it up to its full glory again? Look no further than my very rare 1969 Ranchero GT. This little gem is factory equipped with what is beleived to be the original 390 big block it was born with. Please look at the pics and you will see the original engine tag attached under the coil. The tag is correct for this year, date and model. The transmission is the original C6, but has a major fluif leak that will need repaired. It may be a blown power valve, but I can't say for sure. It will need fixed before being streetable. The engine does run, but the replacement carburator needs some things hooked up before starting. I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL CARB WITH TAG ON IT! There is a newer dual exhaust system on it as well. The body is very solid and has no major rust issues that I know of. There are spots of surface rust here and there, but it is a lifelong California car, originally sold in San Jose, CA. This vehicle has the best color combination in my opinion...factory painted CANDY APPLE RED with Dark RED interior. According to the previous owner, it is the original paint and has the WHITE C stripes available only on GT models. I have included a photo of part of the Marti Report to show you just how rare this vehicle is. There are a few small dents and dings, but that is expected for a car over 40 years old. The hood is exceptional in that it has no bends, or tweaks in the hinge area common to many of this year. The hood opens and closes with just 2 fingers. The doors and hood are straight and aligned and shut firmly. The door hinges do not sag at all. What needs repaired to get it on the street again? There are 3 major items that need fixed. First, the transmission has a serious leak that will need fixed. A mechanic thought it might either be the power valve or dried front seal. I don't know for sure. Second, the brakes need work. It has 4 wheel power drum brakes and a mechanic replaced most of the shoes. I believe either the master cylinder, or booster may need replaced. Third, the steering wheel has too much play in it. I am not sure what the problem is with it. The lights all worked last time I tried them. It needs interior, but the door panels are decent and the good part...I am including a nice RED dash pad I restored, so all you have to do is install it. Please see the photos. I have replaced the tailights and bezels and it now has nice rear quarter panel reflectors on on both sides. Another desirable option this vehicle has is factory Air Conditioning! Not working now, but everything is there. The seat needs redone, but is the original seat. Oh, the car is currently registered non-operational with California DMV so no extra fees. The TITLE is clear and in my name! I have owned the vehicle for several years now, but I need to sell it to make way for my recently aquired 1959 Galaxie Skyliner. What's Included? Of course the car, but I am including the following items as part of this auction: The original chrome 1969 GT wheels are in the bed and include GT caps and trim rings (one ring is not original); I am leaving my 15" magnum 500 wheels and tires on it (major bonus); extra rear bumper; nice red dashpad; original carburator; extra gauge cluster and clock; NICE TACHOMETER GAUGE CLUSTER!; some extra parts in the bed; the original GT grile with few cracks and a GT grille with NO cracks and all mounting pins; I am also including the Marti Report and some literature. If I find anything else, it will go with the car. One more extra that will go with the ranchero is an ultra rare Gaylord fiberglass bed cover. It needs the mounting hardware, but Gaylord is still in business and has some items. According to Gaylords inc., this is one of the most desirable tops for 1968/69 rancheros and even finding one is remarkable in any condition. They valued it at over $2000 alone and have had people offer over $3000 just for a used one. I was told that this vehicle has had 3 prior owners, but cannot verify that. The mileage on the odometer reads 48,513. Is it original, I don't know, but it sat outside for sometime so the sun did its' work. Judging by how well the doors and hood close, it wouldn't surprise me. I located the car in Fresno, California, which is not far from it's birthplace of San Jose...so it didn't venture far from there when I got it. SHIPPING: The buyer will have to make all arrangements for shipping from Long Beach, CA 90802. Of course, full payment via Paypal will need to be made prior to change of possession or car pickup. The car is in a secured garage so I will need to know when it will be picked up. Because this is a collector car over 40 years old and in need of some restoration, there is no warranty offered, or implied. Once you buy it, it is yours to keep. Please read description carefully and see all the photos I have posted. It will also be up to the new owner to supply any insurance once the shipping company, or owner, takes possession of the car. Title and bill of sale will be given to owner or shipper at time of possession. Please let me know if you want it mailed, or included with car. If you have questions, please let me know before you bid. If a buyer is outside of the United States, they will be responsible for all shipping arrangements after full payment is received. Full payment is required within 10 days after close of auction and the new owner will need to have the vehicle removed with 20 days after auction ends. If you are looking for a nice restoration project...this is it! Nice solid body with original body panels and correct drivetrain. I was unable to see if a matching vin was on the engine, but it appears to be correct according to the data plate and the engine tag. The intake manifold has the correct part number and the valve covers are date correct. For information, 1969 390 S code engines did not have an S stamped on the intake manifold and were actually designated as the 390IP "improved performance". They were rated at 320hp vs. the 1966-1968 390GT engines at 325hp. Also 1969 engines had a Ford Autolite 4bbl carburator instead of the earlier editions Holley 4bbls. NOTE: All California buyers will be required to add 8.75% sales tax on final purchase price. On Dec-02-11 at 21:39:38 PST, seller added the following information: PAYMENT CORRECTION: Please disregard the payment option in my description. Per PayPal rules, vehicles cannot be paid for in full over a certain amount. The information under the shipping tab is correct. The winning bidder will need to make a deposit of $500 into PayPal within 48 hours and remit full payment within 10 days with either a cashiers check, or postal money orders. Please contact me prior to end of auction if you have questions regarding payment. Thank You.
