Vehicle Detail
Here is a rare series 1 Jaguar 4.2 Coupe that runs and drives with a great sounding engine and 50lbs oil pressure at start up,a bit over 20 at idle when hot. The fan kicks on when it should and it revs willingly and idles nicely. I have rebuilt the front calipers, plus a new master cylinder so I could drive it and I have put 70 miles on it around my place in the country, it is a torque monster and a blast to drive. The trans shifts easy etc. The engine emits zero smoke!!! The car has three radials on it and one bias ply tire on it so I did not go over seventy mph with it. The upper part of this car is very solid with a few dings and dents but is in very good shape compared to most restoration projects. It is not full of bondo. The trunk area is very solid and the original green paint is still intact. I used a gas can with a hose to the electric fuel pump to drive it- I have the gas tank but it needs a patch and is part of the reason the car was parked I'm guessing. 4.2 Jaguars with full syncro trans are a joy to drive compared to the earlier non syncro trans E-types. It needs floors as it was parked on grass for a few years. They are 440.00 per side from the Jaguar catalogs. The sills seem to be very solid and a magnet sticks good. The battery box is there but needs to be replaced, also a few small patches will be needed on the firewall. The frame is straight with no kinks and it has the original green paint on it, except for some flaking silver paint on part of the frame, guessing it was silver for awhile. I have the number plate that came on the car and the frame# is correct as is the engine block #. The head had been replaced at some point so that number is different but still of the period and is high compression. I do have the original jack and spare wire wheel all the door handles and hardware etc. The bumpers are in need of rechroming but are straight and decent. I have been bolting parts back onto the car because the guy I bought it was starting the restoration and was taking it apart so some of the pictures might show it with the bumpers off etc. The bracket for the drivers side rear quarter window has a broken tab from heavy handed removal, it could be repaired without hurting the chrome I think. The heater box is included and the complete original interior too. The radio was not in the car. Let me say that this car has graced my garage for a year and I have really wanted to keep her. So many times I've thought I could do her justice. I do hope you can and will make her beautifull... I would like to see some pictures when you are done!!! Good luck bidding! PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO END THE AUCTION EARLY I WILL NOT. I also have two very nice E-type books that will be included in the sale. You will be happy with your purchase, check my feedback 100% and I prefer to keep it that way. This car has no warranty expressed or implied . Ask questions and I'll be happy to help in anyway I can, also if you would like to see it and here it run I'm willing to show the car. I do have a video of the car running and being driven but am not sure how to show it on the auction so maybe my friend can help me send that to anyone interested. On Nov-30-11 at 16:57:59 PST, seller added the following information: Here's three You Tube videos showing the car running and being driven. The video shows the first start up and drive. This is before the muffler was repaired. It's much quieter now. Click here Click here Click here
