This is attributed to the proper care it has always received. The DL looks, runs and drives well. It is purposeful and ever reliable. These Volvo's are reknown for their durability and safety as well as their cavernous interior. It is an ideal student or secondary car with many miles still to go... While acceleration of these 240 wagons was never a strong suit, when equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission as opposed to an automatic, one could keep the revs within the power band of each gear through the upshifts for much better acceleration while still returning 30+ mpg. I have honestly & accurately represented the Volvo. I am not a dealer, this is one of our family vehicles that since 2006 has been used for airport, grocery and nursery runs. The minimal use simply no longer justifies in keeping it. I've had good success on eBay when selling vehicles from my personal collection. Those that have purchased my vehicles have consistantly had their expectations exceeded. My eBay customer satisfaction rating is 100%. You are bidding to buy the VOLVO, not to be the first to, "look at it". Inspections are welcome and will be facilitated prior to the auction concluding. A $500.00 initial payment is due & payable within 24 hours of auction close via PAYPAL. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. I will only accept PAYPAL for the entire purchase amount if the seller pays all PAYPAL fees. If you are new to eBay or have zero or negative feedback, you will need to call me directly prior to placing your bid. I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer. It provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties. Transportation and delivery are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will assist in coordinating with your chosen shipper. I can also recommend a reputable carrier. Trailered delivery is possible in the lower 48 states for $1000.00 (non-negotiable). If you choose to fly in and drive home, I will gladly pick you up from the S.W. Florida Regional Airport. This is a true "no reserve" auction. Essentially $19.89 is what it will take to begin the auction. Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay. If you wish to discuss or present a "buy it now" offer, call me directly to do so. Feel free to also call with any questions, I answer my phone quicker than I respond to email. I have selected photos that best present a concise overview of the car. If you would like any area specific pictures, simply request them. Buyers from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence. Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid. Jeff (239)-549-9908 (719)-492-1234,c On Nov-26-11 at 03:27:50 PST, seller added the following information: A couple of clarifications to make this morning: Timing belt service was performed @ 110K. (water pump, too) The AutoCheck vehicle history shows an "accident", however, they are unable to provide a full report. The VIN is correct. The only incident the car ever was involved in was a minor parking lot mishap whereby the left rear quarter/tail light area were backed into to. Cost to repair was under $1000.00. Lastly, I indicated that I would accept PayPal for the total payment if the seller paid all fees...this was a Daffy Duck..."do you want to shoot 'em now...or wait til you get home??" moment. I'll accept PayPal for the total payment if the buyer chooses this as their method of payment and the BUYER pays all PayPal fees.On Nov-27-11 at 09:27:41 PST, seller added the following information: I have been with family at Disney this holiday weekend and unable to reply to the barrage of phone & email inquiries regarding the Volvo. After only a day and a half, not withstanding the emails & calls, the appreciation for these cars is apparent for the "watchers" alone are already at 126. In the interest of saving time, I will answer questions here since many are of a similar nature. I have also just spoken with a family member that apprised me of additional info. When I did the addendum yest., the AutoCheck was unavailable. When one would click the icon, it indicated this and to check with the seller to corroborate the VIN. I have since viewed it. It has an erroneous mileage entry. I say this for the following reasons; the car was indeed purchased by relatives when new.(aunt & uncle) Upon his passing the car was then put into her name. The mileage showed 156k. Shortly thereafter, the car ownership was transferred to her daughter & son-in law. The mileage shows 18k additional in a 6 month span. That simply did not occur. Anyone familiar with S.W. Fl. & Sanibel Island recognizes the Sanibel reference. The car was very minimally driven around Sanibel during these latter years, perhaps less than 1000 total miles. The title was misplaced and subsequently a duplicate was applied for. The anomally is that any vehicle over 10 years of age in Florida, is exempted from any further mileage statements. Why the state recorded the 156K is inexplicable...moreover with the 174K stated just 6 months later. What is understood is that sometime between '06 and now, the odometer stopped working. The speedometer is however, operable. The mileage showing is presently the same 156K. Being a DL model, to our recollection the seats have always been fabric w/vinyl backing in the front, full vinyl for the rear. Perhaps in '89, this was Volvos doing, it is also possible they reupholstered them, though no one recalls any discussion of this. My understanding is that leather was for GL's. These front seats are identical to another family members 1989 240 DL Sedan. The car was born w/factory AC. In accordance with fed law after 1996, once a system developes a leak or has to have the system evacuated, it has to be retrofitted to 134 coolant. This was done as indicated. Lastly, As I stated in the listing, ANYONE that is new to eBay or has a history of ZERO or NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, MUST CALL ME DIRECTLY BEFORE PLACING A BID....otherwise, it will be cancelled. I understand that no one is born with feedback, however, I need to have a conversation to determine if one is a legitimate buyer as I am a legitimate seller. I apologize for any grammatical or punctuation errors, I had to do this VIA my phone. Thank you.
