UP FOR BID IS A BARN FRESH VERY RESTORABLE NICELY OPTIONED 1966 CORVETTE BIG BLOCK ROADSTER WHICH HAS SPENT THE LAST 20 YEARS KEEPING A FARMALL CUB TRACTOR COMPANY. THIS IS A LENGTHY DESCRIPTION BUT PLEASE BEAR WITH ME, I HAVE FOUND OVER 11 YEARS AND 1000 TRANSACTIONS ON EBAY INVOLVING EVERYTHING FROM HARLEYS TO POSTCARDS THAT COMPLETE, ACCURATE, HONEST DESCRIPTIONS ARE THE BEST WAY TO GO. THE CAR WAS ROAD WORTHY WHEN IT WENT INTO STORAGE AND CURRENTLY HAS A SMALL BLOCK ENGINE AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE A 1968 MUNCIE M22 ROCKCRUSHER TRANSMISSION. ASIDE FROM THE ENGINE/TRANS THE CAR IS MOSTLY ORIGINAL WITH OPTIONS BEING A02 SOFT RAY TINTED GLASS WINDSHIELD, A31 POWER WINDOWS, ORIGINALLY EITHER THE L36 OR L72 427 ENGINE, N32 TEAKWOOD STEERING WHEEL, N36 TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN AND U69 AM-FM RADIO. EXTERIOR COLOR IS MILANO MAROON, INTERIOR IS STANDARD BLACK VINYL. STYLE IS FO4 66 467, TRIM IS STD, BODY IS S4053 AND PAINT IS 988AA. VIN PUTS THE BUILD DATE AS FEBRUARY 1966. THE TRANSMISSION IS A MYSTERY, IT HAS THE CORRECT ORIGINAL BOLT TAG NUMBER 3880855 BUT THE CASE IS STAMPED 3925660 AND THE SIDE COVER IS 3884685 WHICH WOULD MAKE IT A 1968. IT ALSO IS STAMPED CC9 A41491. AS IT IS AN EARLY CASE WITH DRAIN PLUG I AM ASSUMING BUT CAN NOT GUARANTEE IT IS AN M22. MY GUESS WOULD BE THE CORVETTE CAME WITH AN M21 THAT WAS DEALER REPLACED WITH THE M22 BECAUSE I CAN’T IMAGINE ANYONE BUT A DEALER SWITCHING THE BOLT TAG TO THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE SMALL BLOCK IS A LATE 70’S EARLY 80’S 267, BLOCK 14010280, INTAKE 14014439. THE STORY GOES THE ORIGINAL OWNER ALSO HAD A HIGH PERFORMANCE BOAT THAT THE 427 WAS TRANSPLANTED INTO. BECAUSE OF IT BEING STORED IN AN UNHEATED BUILDING FOR SO MANY YEARS MOST BARE METAL SURFACES NOW HAVE LIGHT RUST ON THEM. WHAT I CAN SEE OF THE FRONT 2/3 OF THE FRAME LOOKS PRETTY GOOD, THE REAR 1/3 HAS MORE RUST BUT MIGHT BE USABLE OR MAY NEED REINFORCEMENT OR REPAIR. I DIDN’T REMOVE ANYTHING TO INSPECT THE BIRDCAGE, THE DOORS CLOSE NICELY AND DON’T SAG. THERE IS A SMALL CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT I THINK CAN BE REPAIRED AND THE LEFT FRONT FENDER APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REPAIRED JUST OVER THE CENTER OF THE WHEEL. THE DRIVERS WINDOW DOES NOT GO UP UNDER IT’S OWN POWER. THE TOP IS WORN WITH A TEAR IN THE FRONT AND IN THE HEADLINER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD REMOVED THE BUMPERS, EXHAUST AND REAR TRIM TO CLEAN AND PAINT THE FRAME, I BOLTED THEM BACK ON SO THE CAR CAN BE LOADED AS A UNIT AFTER IT IS SOLD. THE DIAGONAL BRACES ARE NOT IN PLACE SO THAT IS WHY THE BUMPERS ARE NOT PROPERLY ALIGNED. THIS CORVETTE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A LONG TIME SO THE BRAKES NEED WORK AND I DIDN’T EVEN ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS AN AS IS NON-RUNNING RESTORATION PROJECT WITH NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THIS CORVETTE IS NOT TITLED BECAUSE MAINE DID NOT START ISSUING TITLES UNTIL 1975. AFTER IT IS ROADWORTHY AGAIN TITLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE OBTAINED THROUGH GETNEWTITLE.COM. I OWN THIS CORVETTE FREE AND CLEAR, I KNOW WHERE THE CAR HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS, WHO THE TWO PREVIOUS OWNERS ARE AND THE LAST NAME OF THE OWNER BEFORE THAT. THERE WAS GOOD NEWS AND SOME NOT SO GOOD NEWS. GOOD NEWS FIRST: IN HIS OPINION THE FRAME IS VERY GOOD AND SHOULD JUST NEED A SANDBLAST AND COATING TO BE READY TO GO, THE "KICK UPS" AND OTHER TROUBLE SPOTS LOOKED GOOD TO HIM. HE ALSO DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THAT WOULD CONTRADICT IT BEING AN ORIGINAL BIG BLOCK CAR AND ALSO SEEMED TO LIKE THE CONDITION OF THE INTERIOR. NOW FOR THE NOT SO GOOD: HE FOUND WHERE THE NOSE AND PASSENGER SIDE FENDER HAVE ALSO BEEN REPAIRED SO IT APPEARS THE FRONT GOT BUMPED ENOUGH TO CRACK THE TOPS OF THE FENDERS. THANKFULLY THE FRAME HORNS AND LIGHT BAR APPEAR TO BE OK AND THE JOINING STRIPS ARE IN PLACE INDICATING THE REPAIRS PROBABLY WERE DUE TO A FENDER BENDER (IN THIS CASE A FENDER CRACKER) AND NOT A MAJOR EVENT. THERE ARE ALSO TWO CRACKS IN THE FIBERGLASS THAT I HADN'T NOTICED BY THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGERS SIDE WINDSHIELD AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS A LITTLE TIGHT IN ONE SPOT TOWARD THE REAR BUT THAT MAY BE FROM THE DOOR BEING OPENED INTO SOMETHING AND HAVING THE CHIPPED EDGE REPAIRED. OVERALL I WAS PLEASED WITH HIS VISIT AND APPRECIATE HIS INPUT. THAT SHOULD BE JUST ABOUT THE WHOLE STORY, SORRY IT CAME IN SO MANY PIECES. GOOD LUCK!
