Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on one 1966 Honda CL160 Scrambler, with 3537 original miles, in absolutely mint condition. I purchased this bike in non-running condition, and have restored the bike to its present state. This one owner bike has been garaged all its life, and was in exceptional condition when I bought it. I've restored the bike to perfect running condition; it runs like a top and starts on the first kick. I cleaned and sealed the tank with POR15 sealant, rebuilt the carburetors, fuel petcock, and added all new fuel lines. All the cables (5 cables:front brake, rear brake, clutch, throttle, and speedometer) have all been replaced with original NOS Honda parts. I installed a brand new NOS rear heat shield to the exhaust. The old heat shield was fine, but I saw a brand new one, so I had to have it. All the mounting screws to the heat shields were replaced with factory Honda screws. A new battery was installed, and fresh spark plugs. A new right side air filter was installed; I could not find a left side air filter- but the one that was on the bike was very usable. The bike started on the first kick, amazing! I've run the bike around my neighborhood, and it runs beautifully; the engine pulls well and the gears shift smoothly. You will notice that this bike has turn signals on it; originally, the U.S. models did not come with turn signals, but were standard on the European models. I was concerned that the turn signals may have been spliced into the wiring harness, but on closer inspection, I found that the wiring harness was already set up by the factory to accomodate turn signals. Everything is completely Honda stock. The bike is in fantastic condition overall; the only problems I found were: the socket in the rear left turn signal is missing, there is a small dent in the tank on the front right, a small ding in the front fender, left side headlight stanchion has a slight bend in it , and the seat has a small tear in the very back (pictured). The tires are the original Bridgestones, and are in unbelievably good condition for their age. This bike comes with two titles; the original owner had a duplicate title made so he could keep the original title for posterity. Also included in the sale are a shop manual, and all the original cables. Most of the cables were working, but had hardened with age; nevertheless, they are important to keep as reference, and can be used as back up if needed. I also will include everything needed to rebuild the front forks: new fork seals, o-rings, washers, and circlips to do the whole job- All factory Honda NOS parts. I'm not real familiar with forks, so I'll leave that to the winning bidder to do when needed. I've also ordered a new steering damper, which I will include as soon as it arrives: the knob on the old steering damper is cracked, but still working fine. This bike also comes with the original tool kit, complete and in pristine condition. This is one of the most collectible Hondas made; it's the original dual-purpose bike. Honda also made a CL160D Scrambler, which was a factory converted CB160 using high pipes, to meet the demand of the more popular CL160 Scrambler. This is the original Scrambler, and is unique in many ways from the CL160D Scrambler that was produced from1967-1968: It has different front and rear fenders, different front forks, factory skid plate, and came kick start only. This particular model is very rare indeed, and extremely collectible in such fine condition. To sum it all up, this bike could easily become a concours show winner in the right hands. If you've been looking for a great one of these to come along, well here it is! The way this bike looks, it already belongs in a museum. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer promptly. Being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping, but I can help with loading the bike properly for transport with your shipper. I would like to have the bike shipped within two weeks of auction's close. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! P.S.- The last picture of the bike shows the condition it was in when I purchased it; it was really sweet to begin with!On Nov-28-11 at 09:19:19 PST, seller added the following information: I just received the new steering damper today, and it has been installed on the bike. Perfect NOS part- please check my feedback or listing #300530813378 for a view of the part. Everything on the steering damper works perfectly. The old part will be included with the sale.
