Vehicle Detail
1998 Ford Contour SVT E1 This is a one owner car that has been very well maintained and garage kept its entire life. Unfortunately, I now have too many cars and the time has come to sell it. I’m hoping to find someone who will appreciate it and care for it as I have. If you know what this car is, you have an idea what a blast these are to drive. On top of that, four doors and good gas mileage make it a practical daily driver. Still to this day, this car turns heads. I even got comments on it when I was taking some of these pictures this fall. It’s becoming pretty difficult to find one of these cars in great condition. Most people don’t know what it is because they made so few of them. They were rare on the road when new and even more so today. The Details: The odometer just rolled over 97K miles. No rips or tears in the leather seats. No curb-rash on the wheels. The paint is in decent condition with some minor surface scratches but still a decent shine to it. The car has never been in any accidents. I have invested over $4500 in modifications and upgrades making this car even more fun to drive. Here’s a list of options and upgrades on the car: Factory: · 1998 E1 SVT (Mid-year model upgrade to wheels, tires and suspension) · 2.5L V6 / 5spd Manual unique to SVT models – 200hp stock · Black exterior w/ SVT Moonlight full leather interior · Power moonroof, windows, locks and driver’s seat · AC, Tilt steering and Cruise control · Premium sound system with CD player · Factory keyless entry and security system Upgrades and Modifications: · BAT High-flow cat with factory dual exhaust and mufflers (sounds amazing!) · BAT Euro suspension (Springs and struts/shocks) – stiffer than stock – lowered 1” - handles like a slot car · FCO Rear-strut tower brace (does not impede rear seat pass-thru) · Michelin Pilot Alpin 205/55 R16H high-performance snow tires mounted on the original 16” SVT wheels (less than 10K miles on these tires) · 18” Kazera KZ-A black 5-spoke wheels with BF Goodrich gForce Sport 215/40 ZR18 Ultra-high-performance summer tires (less than 5K miles on them) · Steeda short-throw shifter · K&N filter in the factory air box · Ford Racing 9mm spark plug wires · BAT aluminum water pump · New headlights and grille (originals were dull and dim and these made the car look new again) · Fog light mod (allows fogs on at any time) · Ford cup-holder modification – kind of silly but a great usable mod · Ziebart window tint: 35 front, 20 rear · Whistler custom hidden front and rear radar/laser detector with outside temp and battery voltage meters (the detector is pretty worthless these days but the temp and battery functions are nice to have) The Condition: Overall she is in very good condition. No dents or dings. Two ugly scratches on the driver’s side rear door. (See last picture and details below.) The interior is in very good condition. The leather on the shift knob is worn a bit. (See pictures.) Mechanically sound. Starts right up. (I installed a new battery 300 miles ago.) Runs and drives great. Everything works like new except the AC which is leaking. (See below for info.) I have service records and plenty of history detail. (I am the one and only owner.) · The air conditioning works fine and blows ice cold but the system does not hold a charge anymore. According to the Ford dealer, the condenser/dryer is leaking. You can charge the system up and it will work fine for a couple of months and then it will eventually run out of Freon. I didn’t want to pay to have it fixed so I would recharge it when it ran out. I finally broke down and bought a new condenser/dryer with ambitions of replacing it myself but I haven’t gotten around to it. The new c/d is included with the sale of the car. It’s up to you to decide if you want to install it or go the less expensive route of just getting the system charged when it runs out. · Just this past Fourth of July, we had a bunch of people over to our house for a party and someone scratched the paint on the driver’s side rear door. They either leaned up against it with a belt on or tried to carry something through the garage and into the house past the car. There are now two decent scratches that are visible from a couple feet away. I took a picture of them so you can see. I’m only pointing them out because I have kept the car ding and scratch free all these years and right when I decide to sell her she gets scratched. Figures. The car is featured in my member profile on FordContour.org. See photos and descriptions by visiting: http://www.fordcontour.org/garage/vehicle/174-ford-contour-svt/page__tab__mods Purchase Details: Please pay attention to the auction terms. I have a very reasonable reserve on the car and it is also for sale locally. I have the right to end the auction early with no explanation given. I’m not interested in any trades. I have to get this car out of the garage and put money in the bank. Your bid is a contract so serious bidders only please! A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the close of the auction. Full payment is due within 7 days of the end of the auction! The car is located near South Bend, Indiana. Pick-up/Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser and must be completed within 7 days of payment. I have done my best to describe and depict (with photos) the condition of the car as accurately as possible. However, it is a used car and is being sold as-is. No refunds or adjustments. Sorry. That’s just the way it has to be these days. eBay feedback is given when feedback is received. If you have a concern or problem, please contact me first so it can be resolved. I have worked very hard to maintain 100% positive feedback. I have a number of additional new and uninstalled parts not included in this auction that will be available at a negotiated price to the winning bidder if interested. Those include: · FCO custom sub-frame connectors · Aeroquip stainless-steel brake lines (front and rear) · BAT urethane sway-bar bushings (front and rear) · Ford lower air-dam grille · Two additional un-mounted BFG gForce Sport tires as spares (same as the others on the 18” summer wheels). These two spares have approx. 10K miles on them. These tires list for $138/ea at the Tire Rack. I’ll make you a great package deal if you want it all. I also have a high-end (approx. $3000) aftermarket car audio system that is installed in the car currently but it is not included in the auction. The system includes AM/FM/XM/CD/iPod playback, component speakers and more than adequate amplification. No modifications were made to the car for this installation as you can tell from the photos. If the winning bidder is interested, this system can be purchased at additional cost (TBD) over and above the sale price of the car. If you don’t want any of it, I will remove it all and replace the factory premium sound system at no charge. You’ll never know this was in there. If you have any questions, please send me an email and I will answer you as soon as I can. Good luck and happy bidding! On Nov-18-11 at 07:21:32 PST, seller added the following information: The auction has met reserve already so in fairness to everyone I have pulled the local sale ads and will not entertain any outright sale offers. I will let this auction run its course and the high bidder wins.
