Vehicle Detail
1967 BMW R69SPlease be sure to scroll down to view high resolution photos and video of a cold start and walk around! Up for auction is an all original, all matching numbers 1967 BMW R69S. It is hands down the nicest original, unrestored /2 BMW I've seen. Not only is it in fantastic cosmetic condition, but it honestly rides and handles better than any /2 I've been on. It comes with a notebook filled with service documentation, receipts, the original warranty card and the original dealer invoice from 1967! I purchased this motorcycle from the original owner who kept the bike in wonderful condition throughout his 40+ years of ownership. He passed along over twenty pages of service records and receipts which give good insight into the meticulous maintenance and care that has been provided for this motorcycle. Mechanically the bike is flawless. It starts on the first kick every time, hot or cold. The engine is super-smooth and the mufflers are whisper quiet. Zero smoke. The transmission is nice and tight, and is free of that all too common BMW clunk. This bike shifts smoothly through the gear box, both up and down. It simply gives a pleasant click when going from neutral to first, and shifting at speed is both tight and smooth. There are no oil leaks anywhere on this motorcycle. All electrics function as they should. The lights are bright and the horn is loud. The suspension is silky smooth and the steering is nice and tight. It handles so well. I can't stress how nice this motorcycle is to drive. The suspension, the responsiveness of the motor, the ease of shifting, it really is the nicest /2 I've driven. I would have no reservations driving this motorcycle from NewYork to California. Cosmetically the bike is in fantastic original condition. The original black paint shines like new with no dents or dings and only minute marks to speak of. The exhaust is flawless. The chrome is all excellent save for the spokes which show minimal oxidation and the tail light lens which has some pitting. The inside of the tank is in immaculate condition with its original red lining. The original seat is also in excellent condition, really as close to new as you will find. Rubber items including seals, foot peg rubbers, handgrips and kickstart stop have been refreshed.
