Vehicle Detail

All Original 1979 VW Beetle Convertible Karmann Edition with 106,748 miles on not only the engine but the entire car. Nothing has been changed in this car. No modifications or alterations. This car is all stock and with the exception of the paint, completely unmolested. This is a chance to take one of the last year classic Beetles and bring it back to its former glory, or simply drive it as is since it runs great. I Purchased this vehicle about 3 years ago basically because I am a VW nut. However I do not have the space for it anymore especially since I want to get a VW Bus now so this one has to go. Please ask any questions prior to bidding, this is a 32+ year old car. I will describe everything that I know on it, please look closely at the pictures. If anyone would like to inspect it prior to the auction end you are more then welcome. I have nothing to hide and am trying to be as forthright as possible, but lets face it there are things that I may miss in a 32 year old car that I am not the original owner of. The car runs excellent, though it leaks a little oil (as do all the old bugs I believe). If the car sits for a bit and then runs the oil will burn off the exhaust pipes, but other then that the engine runs very sound. I have had no problems with driving it anywhere around town. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere as it has always been a reliable driver for me. In the 3 years that I have owned it I have never had an issue. That being said I have not driven it all that much, but I have driven it a little every month or so. Mileage is assumed correct from information given by previous owner and current condition of vehicle. The paint job on the vehicle is obviously not original and seems to have been done by an amateur. It looks fine from even close up however there are a couple spots where a small drip mark is noted. All in all it looks very nice and unless you walk right up to the drip line you would not suspect the paint to be a problem. Also as far as rust this is a car that has stayed on the west coast most if not all of its life. It has no bondo, and no rust to speak of. If you are looking for rust it would be superficial on the bumper (see picture or ask for more picture is not able to see), or typical surface type on the underneath. There are no holes anywhere that I am aware of. If I stripped out all of the interior I could not be certain but based on the areas I have looked at would say there is none there either. None underneath the battery, none under the carpet, none anywhere that I can find. When I say none I am referring to rust that would be of concern. Like I said there are surface spots on the bumper and the typical surface on the frame underneath. I simply can not find any significant rust but do not want to mislead anyone who may bring a magnifying glass. So if this is of concern to you please come by and inspect the vehicle or you can ask and I will give my number so I can give you a detailed outline of every square inch of the vehicle. I really do not know what more I can say. This is a great little vehicle and is worth quite a bit more then I am asking for it. Honestly I am looking to get rid of the vehicle because I need the space, I am not hurting for the money so I am not going to give it away, but I am willing to make a great deal for someone with a reasonable offer. I do reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally also. However if you make me an offer and put a deposit down I will honor any deal that is made. Any deposits are non-refundable. In the event that the buyer does not follow through with the transaction the deposit will be used towards advertisement costs of the vehicle to re-list it anywhere needed to be able to sell it. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. If you have feedback less then 5 please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be withdrawn. All non-paying bidders will be reported and pursued.
