Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one of my rare 1963 Pontiac Tempest wagons that I have had for the last 12 years. I had big plans of turning one into a drag race car and one into a Super Duty 421 Tribute car like one of the six sponsored race cars from the factory in 1963. Unfortunately life, work and family along with way to many projects has help to keep this wagon untouched for over ten years. It is time to let it go. This car and my other one had sat behind a barn for 25 years before I picked them up. I recently went through the process of getting a clean California title on this one and it is even registered until June of 2012. No smog needed ever in CA. The Pontiac 195 inline 4 cylinder is out of the car in pieces. I think I have almost all of the parts for it including a rare 4 barrel intake manifold. It is standard bore and definately needs rebuilt. I was planning to put one of my 455 or 428 engines in it and converting it to a solid axle. The wagon was originally a 4 speed rear transaxle. The shifter, bell housing, torque tube and differencial is still there but it is missing the transmission itself. I do not have a radiator either. This is a solid restoration project that will make someone a unique race car or cruiser, no one else will have one at a cruise night or car show. I have over 45 pictures of the car. While it is basically solid there are a couple of areas that have rust on this one including a silver dollar sized hole in the passenger side front floor pan( the rest of the floors seem solid), a spot on the passeger side rear pillar as seen in the picture and in the windshield channel both inside and out. The back passengers side door latch is stuck and will not allow the back door to latch and close. I will continue to see if I can work it loose but otherwise I will tie the door shut from the inside if I cannot get the latch to work. I do not have keys for the wagon. I tried to take pictures of the rust spots. There are a few dents that I took pictures of. It does not appear that it was ever wrecked and the paint looks to be original, it is faded and has some surface rust as it sat outside before I put it in my shed when I bought it. The interior is mostly all there except for the carpet. The front of the headliner is coming down. the windshield is cracked. Again this is a project that will need complete restoration. I will have rolling tires on it but they will need replaced if it is ever driven. I will pack the engine parts in containers and put them in the back if the wagon is to be shipped. It is the buyers responsibility to arrange for a transport and get their own quote with a transport company shipping from Hemet, Ca 92544 if you are not local. I will be willing to put it on my car trailer and deliver within the LA or San Diego regions for $1.00 per mile to cover my gas within a 100 mile radius. There are transport companies that will ship a non running vehicle but it is the buyers responsibility to find one. Bidders with a zero feedback rating please contact me prior to bidding or I reserve the right to cancel your bid. Please ask questions prior to bidding. I will not end the auction early and I do not have a buy it now price, this is a true auction so bid to win. If you would like to see the car in person please contact me to arrange. Good luck.
