Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on one 1971 Honda CL175K5 Scrambler in excellent running condition. This bike has been properly stored and put away for many years; the last sticker registration on it was from 1973. I've restored the motorcycle back to excellent running condition. The tank had been coated inside (it's a very nice clear red coating that is in great condition); it had been properly drained, so it was ready to go with a quick wash out with some fresh gasoline. The fuel petcock, carburetors, and fuel lines were all rebuilt with new gaskets. A brand new battery was installed, along with a fresh set of spark plugs. The engine started right up, and was idling perfectly after warming up and a little tweaking to the carbs. The engine oil was dumped after about 10 minutes of running time; just enough to let it warm up. Fresh oil was added, the cables all well oiled, and I took it out for a ride. The engine pulls VERY well, and the transmission shifts perfectly. The clutch is strong, brakes work great, all the lights work, horn works- everything checks out great! I took the engine up to about 8000 RPM, and it pulled well and seemed to want more. This is one of the best engines Honda ever made; it actually has a 10,500 RPM redline! I just did not want to push it that hard until all the engine adjustments have been made (i.e. set the valves and timing). The bike has only 3650 miles on it; it has been garage kept, and is in excellent overall condition. The fuel tank has no dents, only scratches to the paint here and there. The front fender is in very good condition; it has a small ding and some spots where paint has chipped, but overall looks great! There is some slight damage to the headlight bucket, from an obvious bump that bent the front left turn signal back. I have a replacement headlight bucket in an orange color, in perfect condition, that will go along with the sale (pictured). The side covers have both been repaired from previous cracks; the 175 emblems are still in great shape. The covers don't look too bad, but certainly a new set would do this bike justice. The kickstarter does not engage properly, and will need to be checked. Everything is like it was when it was made; this is an unmolested original, with amazingly low milage, that could become a real show bike in the right hands. I really think this is a great bike that will last forever, nevertheless it's being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. You have to understand that this is a 40 year old bike that has just been brought back to life; it's going to require some sorting out to make it perfect. Please feel free to ask any questions. I would like the bike shipped within 2 weeks of auction close; I can help you with your shipper in getting the bike loaded. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
