Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for sale is this somewhat rare 1962 Ford Falcon Sport Futura, two-door sedan. The car was built in Lorain, Ohio and originally sold in the Charlotte, NC area. There was only something like 1,700 Falcons built like this one in ’62. It has the original factory Dagenham 4-speed transmission and bucket seats with a center console. The engine was replaced by a previous owner and is a 200 cu.in. six cylinder from a 1968 Falcon. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly. We originally bought this car to be a daily driver project and to use for going back and forth to work when the weather was too bad to use the “good” car. Now that I am unemployed we no longer need it for that and would rather not invest any more time or money into what is now an excess car. Here’s the good: The car has been completely re-wired from headlight to taillight with a kit from Rebel Wire. The tires are new with less than 50 miles on them. The new radiator has a 2” core and a new Zirgo electric fan is mounted in front. The engine has a new Pertronix electronic ignition and coil, new spark plugs and wires, new alternator with one-wire conversion kit, a new chrome valve cover and all new hoses. It also has a new oil pan, clutch and pressure plate assembly. Inside, the car has new seat belts, heater plenum, defroster ducts, kick panels, and dash knobs. The ignition and headlight switches are new, as are the door locks. It has a complete set of new SoCal Speed Shop gauges and a Moon tachometer. We have $1,572.85 in receipts for parts from companies like Auto Krafters, Falcon Enterprises, Summit, and more, and these will go with the car. The car’s registration and insurance are current and we have a clean Tennessee title. And now here’s the bad: This car has suffered through 48 years of previous owners who didn’t know how to fix things the right way and it shows. The trim holes were filled with Bondo and there may very well be more Bondo under the paint. The paint job was definitely not done by a professional. This is NOT a show car by any definition.eBay required a numerical entry in the mileage field, but the original speedometer has been long gone from this car and there is no way to accurately say how many miles are on this car. The floors have been replaced with plain sheet metal and the trunk floor is very rusted. There is a large jagged hole in the dash where some previous owner crudely installed an aftermarket stereo. The windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced and the vacuum wipers do not work. Inside door handles and windows cranks should all be replaced. The headliner is not original and is falling down. I mentioned that the engine starts easily and runs smoothly and that’s true. However, at this time the car is not drivable. There is a pretty significant oil leak from the pan gasket. The pan needs to dropped and a new gasket installed. There is also a low charge situation going on with the alternator. This may be due to some problem with the one wire conversion and changing it over to fully wired may be the only fix that it needs. All of these components are new. Finally, I suspect the one or both of the motor mounts may be weak and in need of replacing. So, there will be no test driving and the car must be picked up by you, your buddy down the street who owns a car trailer, or a professional shipper, whatever. It cannot be driven away. We may consider delivery but only within a reasonable distance and with full 100% compensation for fuel, expenses, and time. Terms Payment will be through PayPal only. No cashier’s checks, personal checks, or any other form of payment will be accepted. The winning bidder must place a $500 non-refundable deposit into PayPal within 24 hours of the close of bidding. The full balance must be paid within 72 hours after that. Failure to do so will incur forfeiture of your deposit and the car goes back up for sale. Study the photos and read the description carefully and be sure this is the car you want. I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing and photographing this car and I will answer any questions you may have via e-mail. However, once the full payment has been made the sale is FINAL and the car is yours. There will be no refunds and no returns of any kind. You will have 30 days from the close of sale to remove the car. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of all money and the car goes back on sale. If you are having a legitimate problem we will work with you for a little while but this car needs to be gone.
