Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on one 1981 Honda CB900C "CUSTOM" motorcycle in absolutely excellent used condition, being sold with a complete set of matching Honda "Hondaline" touring luggage specifically made for the bike. The bike has 29,450 miles, and has been garage kept and babied by a mechanic all its life. This motorcycle features a 902cc engine using a dual range 5 speed transmission with a shaft drive. The 5 speed transmission can be shifted from High range to Low range at any time, effectively giving the bike 10 speeds. Generally speaking, you use the low range for the mountains, and the high range for the highway; but really the bike is much more than that. The CB900C also uses an air ride suspension, which is adjusted by regular air valves front and rear; at its softest settings it feels like you're floating on air (and you are!), for heavier loads, simply add air both front and rear from a regular hand bicycle tire pump (the shocks don't need much air to change pressure quickly). Overall, the bike runs like a dream: it's fast, smooth as silk, and has the capability to transform from highway cruiser into sport-tourer with the shift of the lever. It's long wheelbase and shaft drive (the same shaft drive as the Honda GL1100 Goldwing) give the bike a ride that's like it's on rails. It has very responsive handling for a bike this size. This bike has a nice set of Mac 4 into 2 pipes, still in very nice condition, and sound really good. There is a very small dent in the tank on the right side near the seat, and the center stand is missing. Other than that, the bike is completely stock. Everything on the bike works as well as the day it was made; it has been exceptionally well maintained all its life, with regular oil and fluid changes, and has always been garage kept in a temperature controlled garage. All the locks for the bike and helmet holder work with one key, and all the locks and latches for the saddlebags and top box all work with another key. The cases all work perfectly; the saddlebags especially have very little wear to them; just some scuffs from use. The top box is in very good condition, but the decal on the top has some bubbles in it, and the straps inside are worn. All the chrome brackets are in terrific shape, and all the locks work smoothly. The touring luggage is really high end stuff that Honda offered as an option for this bike ($1200.00 new in 1981!). These cases have the matching Cosmo Black Metallic paint that is on the bike. They are no longer available through Honda, and are a rare find indeed. Set up with the hard bags, you can tour the country on this with ease. This is a really great, excellent running machine that can give you a lifetime of riding, you won't be disappointed. Comes with the Honda factory shop manual. I am selling this as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll be happy to mount the touring luggage for shipping purposes if needed; I'd like the bike to be shipped within 2 weeks of auction's close. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
