Vehicle Detail
Listed for sale by Coventry Garage LLC, is a 1962 JAGUAR MARK II Sedan that is in absolutely wonderful NO RUST condition. We are offering it for sale with the "BUY IT NOW PRICE" OF $14,000.00. This car was originally owned in Atlanta Georgia and then stored since 1988 in dry storage in Cortland NY. IT HAS NO RUST AT ALL UNDERNEATH THE CAR, IN THE SILLS, TRUNK, DOORS OR IN THE BODY OR FRAME!!! This car is a great platform for a restoration project that can be enjoyed without too much effort by just restoring the brakes, tires, carpets and seat coverings. This car has all of its factory original components: consisting of an automatic transmission and 2 carburetor 6 cylinder in line Jaguar 3.8 liter engine and (non-working) air conditioning. It has a Cotswold Blue exterior with a gray leather interior and lots of very nice wood in the interior. The car shows only 97900 miles on the working odometer. This car runs great, starts quickly and shifts nicely. This car is a very original car- although the front end was repainted sometime in the 70’s in its original color - the rest of the car was NEVER repainted and the paint shows very well. The interior is original but the interior seats and carpeting need re-done/restored. The interior wood and seat trays are in very nice condition and the original “Radiomobile” AM/FM radio still works. The paint shines very well. The steel wheels, hub caps, tool kit and jack are in excellent condition for their age. The car is very presentable as it sits and with a little work, could be a very nice “driver” condition car. The car needs 5 new tires and brake work to be driven daily, although we have driven the car about 20 miles locally. The Car# on this car is P214040 BW; the Body # is S 006925; the engine # is LA 6688-8; the transmission # is JBC 4645. This car is a left hand drive car. We have just changed the engine oil and oil filter and have drained and refilled with fresh transmission fluid. The car runs very well, shifts nicely and brakes somewhat; the master cylinder and brake system needs restored. We found this car being stored in a garage in Cortland NY. by whom we think was the second owner. He had owned the car since the mid 70’s. There is NO RUST under this car; the floors, sills, door bottoms, trunk, rear suspension mounts are all in nice shape. The spare tire, jack and jacking tools as well as the original round tool box and owner’s manual are still with the car and will go to the new owners. There is one small spot of surface rust on the exterior rear passenger side fender where the paint has flaked of. That spot is approximately four inches by three inches long and it is the only small surface rust on the entire car. All of the lights work, all of the gauges work and all of the chrome shines very nicely. This car was fitted with “Artic Air” air conditioning and we have the original owner’s manual for that A/C system. This car was originally owned in Atlanta, Georgia and lived there until 1988 when it was brought to NY by the second owner when he moved north. The whole exhaust is in nice condition but it is NOT a stainless exhaust and does show some surface rust- probably from sitting for so long. The steering wheel is in very nice condition as is the interior wood work, the head liner, all the glass and all the chrome. THE CAR NEEDS THE SEATS AND CARPETS RE-DONE. We do have more photos of the floors from underneath the car and can send them to you. The floors are in very good condition especially at the jacking point connections and the front foot areas where rust usually forms. There are no signs that these floors, sills or trunk/boot area were ever worked on as they are in very nice condition. The floors and rear spare tire well are in great shape. There are no holes in the trunk area. The gas tank does not leak. The spats or rear wheel skirts are in great condition. The car does leak some motor oil and does leak some transmission fluid as all older British cars tend to do but the engine does not smoke or overheat. We have tried to describe this car as accurately as possible; all the good and bad features have been addressed in this advertisement. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT this car is now 49 years old. Please do not ask us if the car can be driven home to Florida or Arizona. The car cannot be driven very far as it sits- it needs brake work and tires to be driven any more than around town. Remember that all of the electrics were made by Lucas and are original to the car. All of the suspension is original except for the front suspension rear mounts which we just changed. If you come out to see this 3.8 MARK II sedan we can put the car up on our lift for you so you can view the car from underneath. Both Gary and I (Dan) are members of the Jaguar Clubs of North America and of our local Jaguar Club of Pittsburgh. If necessary, we can give you names of local Jaguar restorers/mechanics that you can contract with to assess this Jaguar for you (at your expense). If you fly into Pittsburgh, we can pick you up at the Pittsburgh International Airport. All shipping arrangements and expenses will be paid by the buyer. The car will not be shipped until all funds clear our bank. We can offer this car at such a reasonable price because we are a very small, Pennsylvania licensed, used car dealership. We specialize in foreign/exotic/British sports cars. Please phone Dan at 412-680-1639, or Gary at 412-638-2715 to arrange to see and drive this great British sports sedan. If you want to see more photos, just write me an e-mail at danfmeyers@gmail.com and I can attach more detailed photos. We are located at 1505 Fifth Ave., McKeesport, PA. 15132 USA (just outside Pittsburgh, PA.). This car is for sale locally and thus WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME IF THE CAR IS SOLD PRIOR TO THE END OF THE AUCTION. Thanks for looking; Dan and Gary at Coventry Garage LLC On Oct-14-11 at 16:25:08 PDT, seller added the following information: THE RESERVE IS $9500.00 ON THIS VERY NICE 1962 JAGUAR MK II. WE HAVE LOWERED THE "BUY IT NOW" TO $10,200.00. WE HAVE LOWERED THE RESERVE TO MOVE THE CAR ON TO IT'S NEXT HOME: AS WE HAVE MORE CLASSIC CARS COMING INTO OUR GARAGE THIS FALL THAN WE CAN PRESENTLY HOUSE. THIS JAGUAR MK II IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE WE ARE ASKING. THANKS, Dan. Please phone me with any questions; 412-680-1639
