Vehicle Detail
Honda Civic Rt4WD Wagon - No RESERVE! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is my rare 1990 Honda Civic Rt4WD Wagon. I searched for many months for a good example, these are near impossible to find in original condition. I eventually came across this one owner wagon with a low 136k miles on the clock at an auction. The downside was that she was not running, turned out to be a chipped exhaust valve. So I took this opportunity to give the car a full overhaul including a new timing belt, tensioner, water pump spark plugs, distributor and cylinder head gasket. All the valves were replaced and the head was taken in to the machine shop. Total price for this was just over $1100 including labor from a Honda Tech who did the work in his spare time. I will include the receipts with the sale. This breaks my heart to sale the car, I purchased it back in May, however my work has me relocating and I have no clue how long I will be away (if I did I’d be sticking her in storage), you can Google my address and see that my house is up for sale. I took the car to be smogged and it failed, the test station told me I will need a new catalytic convertor, a California certified one is around $500+Fitting, or they quoted me, hence the car is only available for out of state buyers (I see 49 State Catalytic Converters are $100 or so). I am 100% honest in my transactions. I have sold three cars on eBay in the past 12 years and every buyer has been very happy with my honest description. I have been over this car several times and have listed every little thing! Previous owner replaced all four tires with expensive Bridgestone models, I will include the documentation and warranty, they have around 500 miles on them. He also had an expensive Sony deck with Polk speakers, the CD player was not working, so I replaced that with a cheaper MP3+Radio unit, it looks more OEM and actually sounds pretty good. At some point the radiator and various hoses were replaced very recently, but I have no documentation on this. I do have a couple of service documents the previous owner left in the car.I also added new windshield wipers and hubcaps. Body – Apart from the odd parking lot ding, the body of this car is in great condition. There is NO RUST, not one spot, its spent its whole life in sunny southern California. The rubber is all good apart from the drivers door at the top of the window, about a 5 inch outside piece missing. Interior – Again in great condition, especially considering its over twenty years old! No rips in the seats and this has been a non-smoking vehicle. The carpet is in great condition in the front and rear, the hatch however has a little bit of worn carpet in the center. The headliner looks good, it however has some small cracks, I guess due to heat and age. I had a quote of $100 for it to be covered from a local upholstery shop, you could probably do it yourself for next to nothing if it bothers you. Engine – New valves, timing belt, tensioner, cylinder head gasket, sparkplugs. Oil has been changed and the cooling system has been flushed (all amazingly clean). There are ZERO leaks from the engine bay, I have a painted garage floor which shows up any little spots of fluid and there are none. The radiator has been replaced along with various hoses very recently. I did a compression check when I purchased the car and the cylinders were all within 1PSi of each other. Brakes – Car stops fairly well, but I would guess at within a couple of years she would need new pads, it was next on my list. No squeaking or odd noises. Wheels – I installed new Honda OEM hubcaps, the old ones were falling apart. A found a big surprise under the old ones, the car still has its original white rims!! The center caps for these are missing and although the white rims are very close to being exceptional condition(the paint is blinding white!),the clips on the hubcaps have rubbed bits of the paint off. The car comes with a spare and tools to change the tires. Transmission – The car shits into all six gears without grinding. Clutch feels good. On The Road – Car is a blast to drive! Feels like a little go-cart, holds the road very well. The engine has plenty of power and the car gets up to speed very quickly. The car drives smooth and tracks straight. I have driven it around town and also a few times on the freeway. I’d say that this car would have no problem on a cross country journey. Electrical – Everything works! AC blows COLD. I will also include the full factory service manual (cost me $100) and the Hayes Repair Manual (cost me $25). It also comes with a Honda owners manual, not original, but for the same year/model. Shipping – It’s the buyers responsibility to arrange the shipping, however I will do everything in my power to make sure that this will go smoothly! I can make myself available at anytime for collection. However, since I am relocating I do suggest that you have the car picked up fairly promptly, I leave on the 20th of October. I have used U-Ship in the past and they have provided me with excellent prices! For example, I sold an RX7 to Kentucky and the buyer only paid $600 for shipping. Inspection – If you want to view the vehicle, I will do my best to make myself available, however you may need to give me at least 24 hours to make myself available at a specific time.Other Stuff - Autocheck told me this is a one owner car, indeed, the paperwork I found laying around in various places when I purchased the vehicle would indicate this. I haven't registered the car in my name, because I have to SMOG it before the DMV will give me the plates. I did however pay $300 in Californian registration fee's (ouch). The Important Bit – I have been 100% honest with the above description and I have tried my very best to describe every little thing I can think off (it’s taken me a few hours to get this all down, take pictures and the video!). However, the car is sold as is. Remember, it is used, but the previous owner did take care of her! Imperfections Small piece of rubber missing on drivers door and worn piece of trim, bit of black spray paint would cure it. The trim below the left driver and passenger doors has been painted at one time. A couple of small scrapes on the front bumper Front spoiler has a small one inch crack on the bottom. A couple of small parking lot dings A small parking lot ding on the right, rear passenger door A small dent on the hatch A couple of scrapes on the rear bumper, paint shop quoted me $200 for the repair, it was on the list. Rock chips on the hood Some odd imperfections on the paint on the roof, possibly bird droppings at one point?? Might buff out. Worn hatch carpet Front washer tube broken for drivers side Rear muffler looks original and one exhaust tip has corroded away. Also the front windshield has two small chips, there so tiny my camera cannot pick them up. A windshield repair company stopped me at a gas station and told me they could repair the chips for free but they wanted me to take out an insurance plan, so I declined. What these little things can do! The video that started my obsession with the rare Rt4WD Civic Wagon :)
