Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1974 Jaguar XJ 12 L four door sedan car that belongs to a 93 year old friend of mine. Since I'm listing this Jag. for him, this description is from information that he has provided me. First let me be clear. This car will be a project. The car has been setting in a pole barn, and has not been started for ten years, and is not running at this time. My friend told me that he and his wife purchased this car in April of 1994. They are the third owners. When they bought this car they drove it on the weekends, and entered it in several area car shows. At one time this was a very nice car, and can be one again with some TLC. They told me ten years ago they drove the car to Hoopeston, Illinois and entered it in a car show. After the show they drove it home and parked it in the garage ( pole barn ). That is where it sat till last week when I used my truck and chain, and pulled it out. After washing ten years of dirt and crud off the car this is what I found. BODY !!! There are some very small areas of surface rust, nothing major. Above the passenger side rear tire, there is an area where moisture has caused the paint to bubble and chip off. Something has gotten into the front passenger door and created a small wrinkle in the sheet metal. All in All the body is good. Interier!!!! The car sat in the barn with the windows down. The interior is very dirty, and has a musty smell to it. I see no rips or tears in the leather seats, or dash area. The seats may clean up, but I'm not sure about the musty smell. Engine!!! Ran fine ten years ago when parked. Today there is no battery, and the gas in the tank smells very bad. I'm not a mechanic, so I did not try to start or turn the motor over. I was afraid of sucking that bad gas up into the engine doing dammage, plus I would have to go buy a battery. My friend stated that the engine was in very good mechincial condition when the car was parked. ALL in ALL a project car YES, but it could be one nice car once it was cleaned, and fixed up. NADA book price on this car today is $13,800 RETAIL. NOTE!! The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping, and or tow fees. The car can be picked up here in Danville Illinois. This car is also for SALE here locally. If someome local buys the car I will end the auction early.
