Vehicle Detail
WOW ...What a find !! Orig 1967 RS/SS Vintage Race Car Found this car here in California buried up to its roof in a carport with 20 - 30 years of storage and paint cans stacked inside and out !! Been parked in storage with a few different owners since 1975 Still has all of its orig. sheetmetal and most of its orig. Ermine White paint ! VERY SOLID BODY !!! *Built Big block , Muncie 4spd , orig 12 bolt posi w/ factory traction bar, Heavy 4 leaf rear springs , vintage race front susp. with disc brakes , heavy duty wheel studs, roll cage , rear battery , American Torq Thrusts , Race Dash gauge pod , orig vintage stuart warner gauges , heater / radio / ashtray / wiper block-off plates , Orig Race seat , club racing booklets , ect... ect... Started out in '67 as an Orig RS/SS 350 4spd car , Ermine White w/ Red Interior , Tinted Windshield , Fold down rear seat , rear antenna , rear seat speaker , special interior trim , guage package or clock , rs/ss equipt. and deluxe seat belts This car was pulled out of storage and completely freshened up to make presentable & driveable but was left as orig 60's as possable ... still has tons of cool patina !! LOOKS , SMELLS AND SOUNDS LIKE A VINTAGE RACE CAR SHOULD ! Check out the video !!! Tons of picts avail. at the bottom of the page !! After sitting so long all the fluids were drained , Engine was drained and cleaned , heavily pre-oiled before firing , (running a race oil additive for newer unleaded gas) New Dual point dist , Accell dual cap ,points , 8mm wires , MSD coil , plugs ,belts ,hoses, ect... good used orig fuel tank and 750 double pumper installed and fired right up , sounds like a race car should with Hi-compression ,HUGE open headers , big cam - & quick throttle response The Muncie 4spd was drained and refilled , new rear seal , all linkage oiled and greased ( new drive shaft u-joints installed) The 12 bolt posi was dissasembled , cleaned , full new brakes , drums turned , bearings , seals , gaskets , refilled All Front suspention , steering ect was cleaned , greased and lubed.. from the steering box to all fittings .. New Front Brakes , rubber lines , calipers rebuilt, rotors turned ,drained and refilled fluid ect... bearings still looked new - cleaned and repacked with new seals ect... Mostly New Interior ... The orig interior was dyed and painted BLACK back in the late 60's early 70's .. now has new Carpet , doorpanels , armrests ,dashpad , ect...(all had been removed) Still orig Headliner (can see where it was dyed black over the orig red) Orig. red kick panels , orig. Dash and other metal still the vintage black paint over red, orig heater/ radio /ashtray block off plates ,all orig dash knobs, switches, SW guages, interior trim, glove box door still has orig. SS tire decal inside , new roll bar padding, pillar post moldings, pedal pads, dome light bezel and lens , shifterboot ect...all the door and quarter glass tracks & mech. / wing windows / door latch mech. were cleaned and lubed while the door panels were off ...new door lock and trunk lock set Also comes with orig Race seat w/mount and an orig set of Dash gauges BODY ... This car has a VERY solid orig. body !! Most of the car still has the orig 60's white paint with lots of 40 year old patina .. The floors are as close to mint as you can get !! With orig white paint inside and no rust anywhere ... the rockers are also perfect ...The Doors are still very solid with no play in the hinges and close like a brand new car .. The lower windshield area also looks very solid , Both front fenders have small spots starting to show rust thru at the lower rear corners that they all get at some point , the pass quarter does have some surface rust at the lower rear area with a small spot coming thru at the bottom by the wheel well (just starting) the rest of the body is very solid with small dings and dents here and there on the orig paint ( see picts) The doors and drivers rear quarter / rear panel were partly sanded and primed when I found the car so I had them stripped down , prepped and repainted White that closely matched the 40 year old paint , color sanded a bit and left pretty dull to match as well as possable . The rear panel had been painted flat black back in the 60's early 70's and was still on the car when I found it so it was redone the same ... Trunk floor is nice orig , no rust but did have a racing fuel cell and pumps at one point so a few extra holes for mounting , also Battery mount / cable , roll cage mounts According to the past owner it was street driven and club raced thru the late 60's in Southern California with a couple different small blocks and at some point in the late 60's early 70's started being more heavly modified with a special front racing suspention, w/ adjustable front springs , special shock mounts , heavy swaybar with links ect.. , still has all this vintage set up ...and is also seen in other vintage road racers... You can see where the car had front tow bar mounts and passed thru the lower valance Not sure how much racing it actually did thru the early to mid 70's in this more modified config ? Prob more club racing and open track days ..?? No real owner history is known at this point ..At somepoint back then a 68 396 Hi-perf motor was installed and was driven on the street and track for a while, and parked in '75 .. this motor is still in the car .. now set up as a more mild street version with oval ports , but still has the big cam , orig open headers , ect ....sounds great !! In my opionion the car should prob. go back to a built up vintage small block race motor in the future This car has been off the road and parked since 1975 and is off the California DMV system , so has no back fee's or paperwork problems , sold with bill of sale .. A vin check has been done and the car is clear .. All the wiring was also gone thru and cleaned up , fues box cleaned & w/ all new fueses , all new weatherproof soldered ends under the hood and dash where needed ..(see picts) The entire RS Hidden headlight system is still complete with all wiring , relays , limit switches ect ... needs new or to rebuild the orig motors to work .. ( open and close manually right now) HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS DO WORK All orig. Glass still in great shape All orig. GM Trim in nice shape inside and out (also comes with the orig. RS lower rocker trim) If your a serious bidder please go to my photo pages and look at all the photos carefully for condition of everything on the car and email with any questions.
