Interceptor V8 / 300HP Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission 2.69:1 Rear Axle Air Conditioning Power Windows Power Steering Power Seat Spot Light AM Radio Fully Functional Retractable Hardtop Original Wheels / Wide Whitewall Tires Ford produced the futuristic Fairlane 500 Skyliner for only three years ('57-'59). 1959 would be the least produced year model with 12,915 produced in total. The Fairlane Skyliner was the only retractable hardtop in the world back then. The Ford Brass spent millions developing these classic, luxurious Skyliners. This particular example is very well optioned and powered by the top-optioned 352 Interceptor V8 rated at 300 horsepower. The power operated hardtop works correctly both "up" and "down". Be sure to play our video to see this Skyliner doing what it does best! This is a car that runs and drives very well, great for cruising. The air conditioning has recently been serviced as well. THE PAINT IS FAIR TO POOR. It is certainly presentable, but the car has a number of imperfections on closer inspection (chips, nicks, dings, etc) and would truly benefit from a professional paint job. The paint looks much better in our photos than it does in person on this particular car. Bid with confidence, view our 100% positive seller feedback, and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have. Inspections are highly encouraged is possible. This Skyliner is located in Dallas, Texas. Contact myself, Sam, direct at 972-748-6389 if you'd like to set up a viewing appointment. This survivor example features low original mileage of 54,276. The dash displays all original brightwork and the multi-colored factory interior is in exceptional condition. This car features a multitude of power options including the following ; power seat, power windows, power steering, and air conditioning. Basically this is an UN-RESTORED example in good condition. The doorpanels display the classic style of the 1950s in prominence. They are in exceptional condition and the door undersides are solid. The factory identification plate is in plate. Now Torch Red & Colonial White, this Skyliner was originally solid Colonial White according to the option codes. The retractable hardtop functions as it should. The storage area under the hardtop is clean and detailed, complete with the luggage tray assembly. Look closely at the above photograph and you'll see some frazzles in the paint. The exterior displays a good solid body with a driver-quality Torch Red & Colonial White finish along with complete original brightwork throughout. This car could really use a new paint job or you can enjoy it as it is. The Fairlane Skyliner rides on a 118-inch wheelbase and the overall length is 210.8 inches. This example rides on its correct wheels/beauty caps wrapped in wide whitewall tires. Under the hood is the optional 352 c.i. 4bbl. H code Interceptor V8 engine rated at 300 horsepower. This powerplant is backed by the optional Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed Automatic Transmission. Further inspection of the engine compartment will confirm solid and clean sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner fenderwells, and core support. This is a Skyliner that runs strong and drives out great. The undercarriage displays solid flooring and framework throughout. The passenger rear quarter panel is dinged along the stainless trim edge, (see above.) During 1959, the Galaxie series debuted in Ford's full-sized repetoire and the last year Fairlane 500 Skyliner absorbed the badging as well even though the Galaxie was a completely seperate series.
