Vehicle Detail
1970 MG Midget Mk III Chrome Bumper Clean PA title in my name….ready to transfer to the new owner. Current PA inspection good till 4/12 Mileage 96,291 VIN – GAN5UB9632G This car came out of a 10-12 year indoor storage early last year. Since then I have gone through every system and have been using it nearly full time as my daily transportation. It has not been driven in snow or salt during my ownership. If you wanted to jump in and drive to Florida right now it would get you there with no drama! All work has been done in the last 12 months. Here’s the basic details of the mechanical work and parts used in her resurrection. There’s lots of small details that we can talk about if you are interested…… Original 1275 engine Head professionally redone, surface planed, valves ground, and new seals New timing set All hoses new New radiator Heater core flushed, new brass heater valve, new thermostat Pertronix Flame Thrower distributor with Lucas 40,000 volt sport coil and cobalt hi-po wires, NGK Platinum Plugs (original lucas distributor and coil comes with the car) New battery, generator rebuilt, voltage regulator serviced SU carbs rebuilt New solid state fuel pump, converted to gm style inline fuel filter All smog equipment was removed by a prior owner Monza style muffler All new gaskets New rear main seal New clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing (see pics) Rebuilt clutch master and slave cylinder, new flex line Transmission rebuilt with new syncros, bearings, seals, and linkage bushings (see pics) Trans and rear end now running full synthetic fluid (comes with an extra transmission that was disassembled for parts) New u-joints New rear axel outer carrier bearings and seals New brake master cylinder, front calipers rebuilt, new rear brake shoes, rebuilt wheel cylinders and hardware. New tires and tubes. Comes with a total of 7 wire wheels (4 on the car, and 3 spares) The best wire wheels of the collection were chosen and placed up front…..it now tracks VERY straight! Painted August 2011 The car had one spot of rust about the size of a quarter when I bought it. That was properly fixed with “all metal” epoxy filler/glaze, and roughly one month ago the car was painted with epoxy primer and 3 coats of professional grade epoxy urethane. It is not clear coated. I wanted a look that was just a little “shinier” than original, but not a finish that looked like a modern car. It has had its first major buff, but could be taken to an even higher level. I have about two quarts of the paint and reducer/hardener left that I will sell to the new owner if they are interested. If not, I’m keeping it for my suburban! Trim pieces were replaced as needed. Also has a nice chrome luggage rack. The interior was the only area that I have not done major work. All gauges now work as original. Seats are in very nice shape. To be a show car new carpet would be in order, as well as a new dash pad. Dash pad has two cracks. (see pics) Original AM/FM works well. Convertible top is in good shape with no rips. There are two seams that have started to pop, but I’ve been told they can be re-stitched by a good shop. Will also need one new “lift the dot” anchor where the top meets the body. Neither the underside of the car nor the engine bay has received major detailing. My intent throughout the project was to make the most reliable driver I could and then do the detail work as I drove it. We have recently moved and now my commute is much more of the 65 mph variety, and the little midget just can’t keep up. As you may know these care are great fun on back roads up to about 55 mph, but long sustained 65-70 feels like a bit much. I’m hoping to graduate up to a mbg or tr6 with overdrive. Otherwise this car WOULD NOT be leaving my garage!!!!! I would consider an even trade for an overdrive car. Let me know what you’ve got. I’m happy to talk to anyone with questions, and if you want to come and drive it just say so. I can be reached in the evening at 610-742-3611. The car currently lives in Saylorsburg, PA. I do have a car trailer and can easily arrange shipping within 100 miles of home for the price of gas for my truck. But unless you are planning to drive to South America, I’ll just hand you the keys and you can drive it home! NO RESERVE AUCTION…..so bid to win!!!! DON’T SCAM ME AND I WON’T SCAM YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave Macbeth Saylorsburg, PA 610-742-3611
