You are bidding on a 1955 Chevrolet Belair Convertible. I purchased this car in 1977 and have owned it for the past 34 years. The car is 90%+ finished and will be an easy project to complete. The last time I drove this car was in 1978 and I have been restoring it ever since little by little when time and money were available. I have decided to sell the car as the money is now needed for more important projects. I will try to give as accurate description as possible. Please remember that this car is currently not drivable and will need to be towed. There are a lot of boxes of new and used parts that go with the car so a truck would be helpful to pick up these parts. Also included are many books on 55-57 Chevrolet’s along with a 20+ year collection of Classic Chevy magazine. The car currently has the original 6 cylinder engine installed and I will include an original 265 eight cylinder engine that I purchased approx. 5 years ago. The 265 engine came out of a 1955 Chevy convertible and I had hopes to install it in place of the 6 cylinder one day. The car was painted 8 years ago in the original colors of Gypsy Red and Shoreline Beige and has been in the garage since I have owned it. There are a few very minor spots here and there that will need to be touched up. There is no rust at all on this car. The quarter panels, body supports, and rocker panels have been replaced along with the drivers front and rear floor sections. The front fenders were NOS pieces. The car is very solid and has been undercoated. I installed sound deadening material in the front doors and rear panels and then sprayed the insides with undercoating. All of the chrome is either new or re-chromed. All of the stainless steel has been straightened and re-polished. All glass is new. Tires were new approx. 5 years ago. Interior is new. Wiring harness is new. New ball joints, control arm bushings and shocks. Brakes are all new. Heater core new. Radio and clock were repaired. Brand new radiator is included. New tar top battery included. Car cover included. A majority of the parts on this car are either new or restored. Accessories: Tissue dispenser, traffic light viewer, fingernail guards, rocker mouldings & gravel shields, locking gas cap, gas door guard. The car will need the following to be finished: Finish detailing the engine compartment. (partially apart) (note: the photo that shows the grille installed was taken earlier this year - the grille is currently not installed) Install new brake lines & master cylinder and bleed out the system. Install new gas tank. (tank included) Install front and rear bumpers. (re-chromed) Install new convertible top. (top included) Install trunk weatherstrip. (weatherstrip included) Will need new exhaust system. (new muffler and hanging brackets included) I have a rebuilt 3 spd. transmission to be installed along with a new clutch & pressure plate. Payment requirements: A $1000. Dollar deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction via Paypal. On Aug-15-11 at 17:19:34 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added some pictures of the underbody along with pictures of the 265 motor. The underbody could use a repaint as there is overspray from when the car was painted. The body has never been off the frame.The 265 motor would need to be rebuilt. I am not sure of it's condition as I purchased it on Ebay as is. The convertible top frame is installed and is working. I have the roof rail weatherstrip that will need to be cleaned up and installed. Also included is a NOS windshield washer bottle. There are approximately 10-15 boxes of parts included. mixture of NOS and original. Way to much to list.
