Vehicle Detail
This is a chance to buy an instant classic. This 1972 350 SL Mercedes was made in August of 1971 and was first licensed 6 Aug 1971. In Jan 1974 it was transfered from the owner to his wife. We purchased the car in April 1985 for my father. It was shipped from Germany to the port in Albany, New York. In September of 1998 I inherited the car. From 1985 till now the car has always been garaged and has never seen rain or snow. This is the 1st year for the 107 series and the only year for the 350 in the SL. The car now has 190261 Kilometers on it which equals only 118223 Miles. Dad only put a couple thousand miles on it in all the years he owned it. When I got it it had about 187,000 Kilometers on it. In 13 years I have been the only driver and have put about 1800 miles on it. This 2 family owned car is all original. The car hasn't been on the road in around 5 years, but has been started and moved a couple times a year. in 2000 it had a brake job. The tires were new in 2001 and have less that 1000 miles on them. The original German tubes are in the trunk. The convertible top is the original and is dark blue. I put the hardtop on when I had the car trailered down from New York and haven't taken it off since. I believe the soft top is in good shape, but I have an extra original (off my sister's 1987) that goes with this. The clock doesn't work. The front bumper drivers side has a little lifting of the chrome (see photo). The drivers seat has some light wear on the side rib (see photo). The car is solid underneath. The car was painted (once over the original off white) with an original color in Germany before I bought it so I can't say how old the paint is, but nothing on the body or interior or drivetrain has changed in the years that we have owned it - It has been babied and appreciated for what it is. It is looking for a good home. Car is being sold as is / where is. Any questions will be answered - please ask. Pulled out the rubber mat in the trunk and it had a little surface rust in the left side - metal is still stong. I also took more photos trying to show underneath - it does have some rust bubbles in the driver's side front part of the rocker panel. The frame is stong. As with any purchase, we suggest you look at the car or have someone look before bidding. I have tried to describe it as best I can. I just lowered the price because I found that years ago my MB repair shop charged me to repair the base of the gas pedal (known to rust) and never did - new owner of the shop now. The new price should cover way more than the fix. Thanks for looking.
